***Haswell -E Owners Thread***

im sure you will find time, if i dont get time in the day, i just wait for the family to go bed, then i make the front room a mess and crack on with the building :)

Just extras from the z97 XPower so they can claim another "feature". Just like Asus with their SupremeFX sound on R5E- who cares??

Ordered my 5930 yesterday at 4.50 PM. Was expecting from what I read on the forums that it would have been despatched the same day but sadly it's still waiting in OC's warehouse. So i guess it will be Tuesday at the earliest for me now. :(

Good old Overclockers - I ordered yesterday evening and, to my surprise, the order was shipped a couple of hours later! It must have been a busy evening in the warehouse. The order even came with *2* bags of Haribo. (And to think, I was kicking myself yesterday afternoon as the processors and boards popped up briefly at lunchtime. I was ready to check out when the phone rang... and by the time I got back to the PC the items had vanished!)

As luck would have it, everything is working perfectly - 16GB of the cheapest DDR4 (2133Mhz Crucial), a midprice Gigabyte motherboard (X99 UD5) and a 5930K - the processor I'd been waiting for since I first heard about Haswell-E.

SuperPi is fun on the system - historically I've used a 4M calculation as a rough and ready test. It took something like 56 seconds on the 2600K I had before, whereas now... it's more like 80 seconds. The reason is that the processor barely clocks up, hitting 2GHz briefly before going back down to 1.4 to 1.8 GHz. WinSAT stresses the processor properly though, with a processor score of 8.6 reported under Windows 8.1. (You have to run WinSAT via command line as they removed the GUI).

I'm hoping for a noticable improvement in encoding times for blu-rays, but the side effects of better gaming performance and future proofing are also worth having!

Nice summary, could almost mistake it for a plant post. ;)

Gear arrived today, thanks Overclockers shipping late afternoon. Even if couple of the boxes are a tad on the worse side for wear....
