So I decided to buy a 5930k and Rampage board, I am pretty impressed so far and achieved my goal of a 4.5ghz OC. (1.274v)
Small images, however they are visable!
Need to update sig aswell...
FYI (and all other UD4 users) p24 of the manual states "When you overclock the CPU, make sure to connect one end of the included 1 to 3 power cable to the ATX_12V_2*4 power connector and the other three to the power supply to ensure the system is provided with enough power"
I hadn't come across one of these 1 to 3 power cable's before which is why I asked. It may well not be necessary just putting it here for feedback , experience reasons (and also to prove to myself I didn't imagine it )
I haven't used it yet, but Im also not going to be pushing my setup until I get a CPU water cooler at the end of the month (and hopefully some longer 2*4 / 8 pin cables).
I was struggling to get over 4.2ghz on my 5820k, even with ridiculous voltages of 1.280+
Turns out you really need to use that 3 - 1, 8 pin adapter for the CPU (was included with my SOCFORCE Mobo)
I'm using 2x 8 pin connectors and have been stable for the past 3 hours on 4.4, v1.263 and ram at 2666mhz on a noctua d15.
Also helps to turn load line calibration to TURBO.
Any more thoughts on this 6 weeks on? I cant see the point of it at all if its coming from a good power supply with a single big 12v rail?
Thanks
Scott
