***Haswell -E Owners Thread***

I'll 2nd that Boomstick777, I was hesitant giving up my Xonar prior to upgrading but the on-board sound quality has won me over.

Looking forward to my Samsung xp941 coming in a few days and another 16GB ram.

Nice one :), I've got a Samsung 850 Pro 1TB coming, gonna throw all my games on that and keep using this lil 840 Pro 128GB SSD for Windows.

That's all my upgrades done until 20nm GPU's launch..

So I decided to buy a 5930k and Rampage board, I am pretty impressed so far and achieved my goal of a 4.5ghz OC. (1.274v)

Small images, however they are visable!

Need to update sig aswell...

Very nice ! X99 ftw :)

Why do you want to sell up, it can not be that bad surely.

Yeah X99 is awesome, I'm just weighing up my options as I'm only really gaming on my PS4. Not sure if I need all this power tbh.

Although the are a ton of good games coming to PC over next few months so would probably regret it if I sold it now lol.

F9g on UD4 seems good (Don't want to speak to soon here but so far so good :p)

My default OC went in quicker than with older bios. (Sometimes would hang and go back into bios and need to be saved again) This time first boot straight to desktop at 4.0Ghz.

That's what I've found with F9e I haven't had one failed boot since I put it on. I'm not sure if I should put g on just yet incase it upsets things!

I think F9g is worth it, I'm using 4.4Ghz as default clock now. Boot up and rebooting is fine. No weird bios re entry thing anymore. Temps hit low 70's in Intel burn test. This CPU is epic bang for buck'ness :D

I can't believe how good this setup is for the money (CPU £270) (Mobo £150). Especially with DDR4 price dropping so much around the web. Seen 16GB DDR4 2400mhz for around £170, better priced than equivalent DDR3 !

Thanks Boomstick - Sure I won't miss the kidney Lol. Seriously though this system is going to have to last me many years. Will update once bult and up and running.

Mark

Haha, nice one. Yeah 5960X out of my price range atm. Saving towards moving to an 8 core next year with Broadwell -E. Hopefully have enough by then for the top chip :D

If you have 3 cards in SLI/CF then yeah, 5930K and 5960X are the better chips to go for, 2 or less cards and the 5820K is fine. :)

The reason i recommend x99 to people is that for the same money as a 1150/1155 socket system, you can get a full x99 setup.

If you have a 4770K/4790K then moving to x99 is pointless as you'll see little to no benefit in games.

People buying brand new who don't have a system already that doesn't have an i7, i would recommend x99 as it is newer technology. :)

^^ This.

Having some stability probs on my mobo atm. Not keeping clocks, having to reset to default. Which is fine for 24/7 use but not when testing / benching.

Not sure if mobo / memory / CPU. Got some new memory on order, if that doesn't fix it. I guess 5960X will be the next thing to try :p

I have seen countless people very happy with X99, so I think you may be being somewhat harsh. It is a new platform, so niggles are bound to occur. On the whole, I've not seen any justification for widespread condemnation of the platform that you seem to be encouraging.

+1

Disagree with Kaap, I think X99 is the best platform from Intel in many years, not only being the first in introducing new memory standard in DDR4 but also the first reasonably priced 6 core / 12 thread CPU. These chips do not require de-lidding and perform like a boss even at stock.

Like any new hardware, it does have teething issues, for me at least so far they have all been down to early bios. Over time this will be addressed.

Someone could buy into X99 now and enjoy the top end until at least 2016, that's some good value right there imho. Hopefully by then the bios will be fixed as well :p
