but the thing is all the pirates in here have said they don't think it's cool it just the others who are saying they do it because the think it's cool.

which tbh is downright retarded, i don't stream a film because it's cool but because it's easier and cheaper than buying it.

I don't stream subbed animé, because its cool but because i cant speak Japanese it's easier and dubbed stuff is generally voiced by retarded sounding Americans and several months late.

also i like how you feel you are able to insult/make defamatory claims about people you suspect of piracy private lives.

Pirating does not make you dishonest. I hate the way that word is associated with it. Stealing is a 'dishonest' thing to do but it doesn't make you a dishonest person. It's like the difference between loving something and being in love with something.

Some people on some very high horses here.

i own all the red dwarf series, but sometimes when i wan to watch em when i wake up a night before i go to sleep sleep, i will just stick em on on stage 6 so i don't have to sit in my boxers in the cold waiting for the bbc messages then another minute or so of boring menu before i can play it. just 3 clicks then crawl back under the covers.
 
I download pirated games and albums. I buy the stuff I like, I delete the stuff I don't. They aren't losing revenue to me, I wouldn't have purchased their product in the first place.

Exactly.

Though the company Slysoft sell a program that:
a) Lets you play any DVD regardless of region
b) Removes all encryption on the DVD (So I won't post the product name here)
c) Skips all the unskippable junk, meaning when you stick a movie DVD in, it either jumps to the main menu or plays the feature, depending on which you want.

exactly, I do the same, If anything they earn more revenue from it tbh, I would'nt buy halft albums I do becuase there is no legal service in place that allows me to find and preview the music that I'm into on such a large scale.

No one said that, what was said was that there are people that believe being a "pirate" is cool. Are you honestly telling me there's no one who pirates on a regular basis who takes the ripped off film/music/whatever into school / whatever to show off they have ripped it off before it's even in the UK cinemas etc?

It was even posted early on in the thread that one of the motivations behind some of the hacking crews is prestige and being "cool" in breaking copy protection of getting the latest album out before anyone else.

I'm afraid you're being very naive.

interesting do you have to rip the disk for it to skip the unskippable or can it do it straight from the disk? hdd space is at a premium at the mo.

That's not what I said, I said I was surprised so many people here thought being dishonest was a cool or good thing.

Like I say, if you think there aren't people that boast about and think it's cool to have pirated the latest album and taken it to school/uni before it's even released you're being naive in the extreme.

people don't do it cause it's cool it;'s because it's free, taking in a move that isn't out yet isn't to be cool it's to share with some mates, or to make a quick few quid.

so making compilation cd's using your pc is illegal? how about putting an itunes song onto your ipod, you'd then have two copies of the same song but only paid for once, wouldn't that be illegal?

Technically it's just as illegal as downloading it, you've bought one copy of whatever it may be, not two.
