Having monthly English lessons on the forums?

You realize when you do the smallest grammatical slip now, you're not going to hear the end of it, ever.

Asim, I'm not trying to be awkward or anything but you teaching people English would be like Jeremy Beadle teaching people to clap.

I'm not going to bother pointing out the mistakes you made out in your OP, just along as you understand that they exist and your own English isn't perfect.

I could accept someone like edrof making one of these threads but the fact is, he wouldn't because he's not a massive bell end.

Why are you getting so personal?

I'm just trying to highlight common mistakes people make. I'm not teaching Shakespeare.

Contrary to what you might think, I don't need to be edrof to do that.

HAHAHA.

Highlighted part got a lol.

Maybe they could make you the grammar moderator....then you can go about correcting peoples mistakes, typos, and punctuation with a little note to tell them how best to improve.

It might, hopefully anyway, occupy your time to such an extent that we are not subjected to you regaling us with stories of drunk serial killers and Mac10 brandishing gangbangers......;):p

While we're on the subject of 'gangbangers', every time I hear that word on Cops it never fails to make me laugh. The way they just say it so casually just gets me every time.

When one called me a gangbanger when I was a kid, I said how can I be a gangbanger when there are no girls....he hit me over the head.:(

A lot of users have utterly appalling English skills on these forums. Most, if not all of these people aren't in school anymore, so they will probably live the rest of their lives not knowing the correct form. Would it not be a good idea to have monthly English grammar/punctuation lessons? If anybody is caught getting that month's lesson wrong then they are given an hour long ban or something?

I've already devised the first lesson as an example:

Lesson 1 - of, have.

It's extremely common for people to get mixed up with these. When speaking fast people usually say "should've" but when they write this down they seem to use "should have" because it sounds like the pronunciation of should've.

Bob should have paid attention at school.

U mad bro? :p

Yeah exactly my point....I'd rather have a brain stuffed full of FACTS than a language which will change with time anyway....you are utterly retarded if you think there is one 'right way' with language, despite the fact it changes gradually over time.....clearly no one likes FACT (ya know such as science......) who cannot understand it.

Sure the describing of things changes with time but as long as every other member of your species understands, even with minor mistakes, what does epic knowledge of something trival achieve you?

Now go away and describe our universe in perfect detail, yeah pointless attempt isn't it if you cannot.....better to know of these things and get an occasional letter wrong..... Obviously.....
