Hayfever - Thread

This year has been the worst for me BY FAR.

Yesterday I bought an Air Purifier so I can at least have some relaxation in my room. I had the most violent allergy reaction I have ever had that afternoon which was what prompted me to buy it to try!

Hi all,

Do many of you get bad morning symptoms?

As soon as I get up my eyes are itching and by the time I've set off for work the sneezing has started. Been taking Loratadine the last 10-14 days or so but still suffering. Going to give Cetirizine a go instead from tomorrow and see if it's any better.

My combo at the moment is 1x cetrizine, 1x loratadine and 1x 180mg fexofenadine per day, with decongestants (pseudophredine) throughout the day and chlorphenamine (drowsy!) if the hayfever is really playing up.

I'm still a little sneezy and snotty, but it's manageable and not crippling.

Not sure if I should detail my technique for battling hayfever, as it may put this thread into medical advice. Basically it involves two Cetrizine Hydrochloride at 8pm and Beconase nasal spray once in morning, once at night.

First impression of the air purifier thingy.... my room smells a bit.
Left it on all day, am now in my room and I'm not sneezing. Moment of truth will be tomorrow morning.

It goes away that weird smell. I think it is just because the thing heats up quite a bit and it's all new components/plastic etc. Smell definitely goes after day or so.

Another night done, another morning I am sitting here with a completely clear nose and no symptoms. It still freaks me out!

Use to have an injection, joys of working for the MOD. Been 7 years from when I had it. Last year was fine this year I'm fighting.

Have tried going as long as possible. Also tried local honey. Have taken the syrup stuff once and it worked. Was for my son but I needed a solution there and then

I've had a few sneezes and some slight eye itching so far this summer and that's it. I take 4 x 10mg Cetirizine daily.

A little vaseline under your eyes and under your nose is also a good fix if medication isn't helping.

I've been suffering with hayfever since I was 13, I am now 22. I do get allergies all year round though, but this year has been the absolute worst it's ever been. I eventually caved in and went to the doctors, I've been year after year and tried all different tablets, but this year she put me on Rupafin tablets. All I can say is I've been transformed! I've blown my nose once in 4 days! Really going well so far, still not 100% relief but the best I have ever had so far.

Have you guys tried the allergy reliever from Lloyds Pharmacy? I have the older version and it works brilliantly for me. Now I take a Cetrizine Hydrochloride (Generic, I won't ever pay for brand price) and use this reliever a couple of times a day and I'm sorted. I also used to be the worst hayfever sufferer I'd ever known. The grass pollen and rape seed pollen used to practically cripple me. Sometimes I couldn't drive it was so bad. Now I get the odd sniffle but with Cetrizine Hydrochloride built up in my system, a few top ups of the reliever throughout the day sorts me out completely :)
