Hayfever - Thread

the only thing that ever works for me is honey. Use it in your coffee, tea and cereal everyday. Within 3 days you will notice a siginificant difference in your symptoms which should motivate you to keep using it in your diet.

I find Cetirizine Hydrochloride once a day tablets work best for me, I think it's advised to go for a nasal spray with it. Not that I bother, the tablet works out fine most days. I did start earlier than normal though this time round, I usually bother with it once I'm under the effects of the god damn sneezing.

If you are a heavy sufferer, I guess you could get your GP to refer you to a allergy specialist?

Tried it, didn't make the slightest difference for me :( The lady who keeps the bee's is literally less than 100m from my house, so it doesn't get any more local than that.

Tried taking it in various ways and throughout the days and it makes absolutely no difference to my hayfever. However, top notch local honey is incredible, so I still eat it anyway :D

I was seriously thinking the air purifier idea would be a massive waste of my money, but was willing to try anything to stop me waking up groggy and clogged up every single morning (I run most mornings so it's not a good way to start for that!).

Since early May, I have had to blow my nose immediately after sitting up in bed, it's that bad. And I have felt groogy and rough every morning as well as this without fail.... 2 nights now with this - http://www.breathingspace.co.uk/air-purifiers-c1/airfree-p40-silent-room-air-purifier-p5 - and both mornings I have sat upright at alarm with a completely clear nose and I feel perfectly fine and no dodgy back of throat/groggy feeling. I am actually shocked at the immediate difference its made and wondering why I never gave this a shot years ago.

No placebo or OTT reaction of thinking it is working, because it's quite bloody apparent that it is by the fact I can breathe again haha. £129 spent which at the time I could have kicked myself for, but now thinking £129 was some of the best money I have ever spent.

Now, I just need to fashion some strapping to carry it around on my back all summer and a way to portably power it and I am all set as a portable pollen kiling god!

I just got one of these today, hope it clears my bedroom up a bit tonight, this morning was not nice :(

A combination of;

- Switching to cetirizine from loratadine tableys
- Using eye drops (for 'itchy eyes')
- Beconase nasal spray
- Thin layer of vaseline under the eyes/inside of nostrils

Has seen my Hayfever symptoms diminish to not even 10% of the ferociousness they previously were, if anyone hasn't tried all of the above, give it a go.

I can breath, I can live, I can socialise, and all during the middle of summer! :p

Let me know how you get on. Still waiting on the other guy a few pages back posting his experience.

Still over the moon with mine. Have never got out of bed with any symptoms since I got it, still working its wonders.

Nasonex works for me - the only thing that has. Before someone suggested it I was blowing my nose so often that it was constantly red, flaking and even bleeding! Not a good look. Helped with my dust allergies too.

had it for just over a week and haven't woken up wheezing like i did before and havn't taken a piriton to get me through the night either

not sure how it's working, surely it needs a fan on the bottom sucking stuff into it?

No idea man, it just seems to work! That was my initial thought, exactly the same as you, how is this little thing possibly pulling so much air in through it when it doesn't even have a fan?

I am sure there is good science behind it and why it does work. But all I care about is being able to sleep and wake up without feeling like a badgers bumhole.
