Hayfever - Thread

Thursday/Friday had ultra high pollen counts, don't usually suffer from it but it got me good over the last 24 hours :s my throat is horrendous. Fortunately all the other symptoms subsided pretty quickly.

Guessing I'm allergic to nettle pollen as its about that time of year and they seem to have let them grow around here this year instead of cutting them down as in previous years. (Huge banks of them outside work that has usually been cut and decomposing by now).

I think i've been really lucky so far as I get it really bad but this year has been really good. Not had any sneezing fits/watery eyes, just a couple of sneezes here and there. :D
 
This year was the worst I've had in 9 years of having it until I went onto new tablets. It's quite a transformation :) the absolute worst bit for me was the constant sore throat, it was agony. I don't miss that.
 
Had it bad for the last couple of weeks but we've finally had some rain, not much the odd drizzle/shower its the first time for 3 weeks at least, but its done wonders for my hay fever. Washed all the pollen out the air. Its a bit of a dustbowl here should probably move somewhere in the country where it rains more often.

No idea man, it just seems to work! That was my initial thought, exactly the same as you, how is this little thing possibly pulling so much air in through it when it doesn't even have a fan?

I am sure there is good science behind it and why it does work. But all I care about is being able to sleep and wake up without feeling like a badgers bumhole.

i think it's cured me! barely a sniff since i've had it and i'm usually very very bad :D
 
Sneezed well over 100 times this evening with absolutely no idea what's causing it. Nose is dripping like a tap (clear liquid like tap water, not snotty). Am currently pumped full of corticosteroids and loratadine, have snorted saline solution through my sinuses, rubbed vics all over everywhere, and nothing is helping a jot.

Throat is now burning, voice has gone husky, nose is red raw, even shoved some antiseptic cream up there only to immediately sneeze it out :p I never get this bad normally, so something special has happened today. Special in a very bad way :p

I always wake up all bunged up, sniffing etc.

The moment I get up and get ready it seems to disappear...

This year hasn't been too bad for me but I started to use the nasal sprays and them seem to do the job quite well so will be using them again next year.
 
Anyone had themselves allergy tested? From what I read there are "scratch tests" and injections to find out exactly what you're allergic too. Since mine is year round (current cold is non-related), I'm pretty sure mine must be dust mite droppings. But would be nice to know for certain.
 
Well I think it's that time of year again, sneezing today and yesterday. Tree pollen is always bad for me, which starts about now.

:(, better go get some tablets tomorrow.

People are allergic to different pollens, my worst is tree pollen (and jasmine for some reason). I had tests done to narrow it down when I was a teenager as mine was really bad then. It got much better after I had the course of desensitizing injections but the NHS don't offer them now due to people having bad reactions to them.

I've been using Cetirizine tablets for the past 2 years and it has done wonders for my terrible hayfever.

You don't need to get the overpriced crap too, I think I got a pack of 5 last year for £6 quid from Chemist Direct.
