**HAZRO HZ27WA & HZ27WC ARRIVING SOON INCLUDING NONE-GLASS VERSIONS!**

It is kinda funny how Hazro claimed that the glass improves the picture though. I think I'm gonna ask them for stats on that because it IS untreated glass which shouldn't really do anything.

Yeah I don't understand how untreated glass can "add to the vibrancy of colors" either. Common sense tells you it must add reflections though compared to the non glass version.

I suppose the only way to see is to get a glass and non glass monitor side by side.

Yeah. There's only one person in this thread who has owned both (not at the same time). If I remember correctly he said go non glass, same picture but a lot less glare.

Really well, thanks. :)

Not sure if I would prefer this or the new Samsung 120hz one though...

The TN?

I'd pick the hazro. :p

The 27" LED monitors were thoroughly scrutinised by forum members to the point where some went out their way looking for defects. We addressed their concerns by moving to Class 1 cleanrooms which eliminated the dust issues and are continually striving to improve the range. In reality, the price/quality ratio is what makes these models appealing and these supposed 'defects' are often cited as the reason why these models are priced so attractively. In actual fact, the reason for the attractive price is simply down to our large volume panel sourcing.

Maybe that's why Hazro doesn't respond often in here anymore. haha :D

Also, I gotta say, is it just me or is it really hard to spot detail in black? For example, in Minecraft on a U23 I can easily see where I am in the dark. On the hazro, I can't see for crap. :p

Edit: figured it out. Either it's an effect of reflections messing with my eyes, or this thing has black crush on default (based on the lagom test. I could tell 1 apart from the background on the U23 easily. On the Hazro, I can't tell a difference at all, and it's hard to see the first few.) And since this thing has no OSD, no easy way to change gamma/contrast settings. Dammit.

I tried CCC to change settings but nothing I did would help it. :/

Perhaps the 2 Hazro threads should be merged?

Copy and paste from the other one:

"I've noticed some weird wavy lines on certain mkv files. Never had this issue with my TV using the same files - tried using different media players and codecs but the issue persists. Same issue cropped up in Zombie Driver but no other games. Will be keeping an eye on this and update if I get any more solid info. Anyone else noticed something like this?"

Well, I'm going to go with the consensus that my black crush issue was a one off then. Still left me wary though. Great, great colours. Just hope that not all of them have terrible discrepancies between the darkest blacks.

If anyone wants to check, go to lagom and use the contrast test. If you can barely see the difference between 1 and the background (or can't), and the steps between the first few are tiny then yeah, the C version can't be that well calibrated.

Ok, I just tried this Lagom test with my HZ27WC and I can distinguish 1-32 for all colours, except blue which is distinguishable from the background only from 2 if viewed close to the monitor. Note that all the colours in row 1 are very difficult to see due to the reflection in my well lit room (I have the glass version). However, I justed compared with a matte 24" BenQ and that was even worse with colours only visible from 2 and 3, and on the right side the blue looked purple on the BenQ.

I have gotten used to the reflection, but I will not get a glass monitor next time. It is not a problem when working with white background, or bright colours, but for blue and black the reflection from any lightsource is very visible. I have tried putting my monitor facing a wall, but it made very little difference to the amount of reflection. The only thing that helps is to close all the blinds and turn off the light. It is a good monitor, and for the price I am happy with it, but you will have to accept seeing yourself in the monitor or work in a dungeon. :)

Wrong one, sorry. I meant the 0-255 contrast test.

I did the contrast test, not sure what the 0-255 contrast test is. If you mean the black levels (which you probably don't) I can see the boxes from 3, but not 2 or 1.

Oh, yeah that was it.

Yeah that pretty much confirms what I was saying. Not being able to see 1 or 2 pretty much ruins a lot of dark things. (At night in minecraft I can't see for ****, whereas on my Dell's I can make out everything)

What a damn shame.

Hmm I did that Black level and I can just about make out 2 and the rest. 1 is just so dark it's part of the backround for me.

When on the white test I can cleary see them all.

On the colour contrast test, I can cleary see every colour, going from 1-32.

It seems some of the WC screens are sligthly better calibrated then others in the Factory.

If calibration is your concern though, the WA version is certainly the way to go. I still love my monitor and everyone that's seen it has been blown away by it's quality.

No complaints from friends about reflections on my screen either when watching movies or gaming.

It'd be a damn pain if I needed to calibrate the screen (aka another 100 down the drain) just to see the darkest darks... I mean I thought black crush was a PVA only problem, but nevermind. I never needed to calibrate my dell's and they're fine.

But yeah, the WC version seems to be completely useless if you like seeing details in blacks.. not too sure the WA version is worth all that extra moolah though. Argh. Such a pretty screen too.

Now that it is nice and dark I tried again with all the lights off and I can just about make out a vague square on 2 if I look carefully. I again compared with the BenQ and on that I can make out all the squares including 1 without much difficulty. Saying that though, I've not had any problems with black levels in actual use when gaming - although I must admit I've never tried minecraft.

At night like this there is zero reflection and this monitor is awesome. When I do play games like Portal 2, Defence Grid, Borderlands, Supreme Commander 2, Tropico 3, etc. during the day I don't really have any major issues with reflection, but I do have to keep the blinds down and reflections can become a distraction when what is on the screen is dark if the light is on.

I'm surprised that Hazro (or some third party) hasn't provided some software calibration for the screen. Is that technically impossible?

I don't know, but I do know I asked Hazro about this - it's the only email they haven't responded to. It seems theyr'e aware of the black crush but don't want to comment on it or something.

Hopefully someone with an i2 or something can give their monitor a run and post results, it could save the monitor for me.

But if you play a game with a lot of dark scenes (not sure about some of the ones you listed) and you can barely see normally, on the hazro you will be blind.

i have i2 but what results you want ?
there wasnt much a difference after calibrating so they have made a good job .

Like I posted so does mine, cept for the 1st black block, which is the same black as the background.

And it's not supposed to be. I myself can tell a SLIGHT difference going on from 2. 1 is not supposed to be as black as the background. 0 is black, 1 is not. It may not bother some people, but in dark scenes with the dell next to it I can certainly tell the difference and it's aggravating.

That is simply not good enough for such a highly praised panel. Hell, the U23 is an e-IPS and has black levels far better than this monitor. Maybe it's a H-IPS thing, but I've never heard of it before and the screens are praised to high heaven. Are you telling me people don't notice it? It drives me nuts.

Also, TFTcentral had an uncalibrated version, which they then calibrated. I'm guessing that fixed it, hence the good black levels comment.
