Hazro HZ30W - Strengths and weaknesses

Also, have any of you noticed darker vertical "waves" on a dark background?.

Given the pixel fault and the dark vertical "wave", I'm planning to send this back for a refund under the Distance Selling Regulations 2000.

do people coming on these forums actually read about the different technologies pros and cons and their different side effects involved in these monitors cus the vertical waves are common knowledge just like pva/mva is pinky colour from certain angles and tns are dark/black.
i have also seen people complaining about a slight movement in the ips screen which is the norm as it need some room as it expands and shrinks during heating.

to complain about 1 pixel :) at 2560x res its nothing major as i think complaint would only be deemed okay if it was a group/cluster of bad pixels.
also you do have to bear in mind that at 2560x res it has several million+ more pixels than a 1920x monitor so has an increased chance of bad pixels.

oh and lastly people that have had problems and then complain hazro hasnt responded do they realize it was christmas and new year over the last 2 weeks and as far as i understand most jobs were off for 1-2 weeks and didnt return to work untill monday 5th jan:D so for people trying to contact them on christmas day and new years day should seriously contimplate entering the real world:D

WELCOME TO THE MATRIX.....:p:D:p

anyway i cant fault my screen as i had only 1 bad pixel but it was positioned tightly in the left corner and everything elso was perfect with no noise from my psu unlike other people here.

maybe people that cant read/understand should stick to TN and try thier lottery panel luck with the dodgy samsung panels:D:D

dell=£1000....samsung=£1100...nec=£1400-1600....lg=£950......hp=£1100
hazro 30" for the price and spec is about the best big gaming screen available
:) and im saving for another i was that impressed.

i just cant complain about low lag no ghosting IPS screen encased in aluminuim and selling for £661 at OCUK...

the 30" has the least amount of problems out of all the hazros due to less interference from scaling boards and shielding problems which the 24 and 26" suffer from although a lot less now due to firmware fixes bu some are still affected.

just my 2 cents worth.....

Yes, I've read about the technologies and I've had most of them sitting in different monitors on my desk. I know that both S-IPS and H-IPS panels have weaknesses. That's why I'm not mentioning about the bleeding from the bottom, which is less severe than I was expecting.

I do however know of S-IPS screens that doesn't have the dark vertical waves, including my last one. From philjohn's comment it seems the problem only applies to a certain crop of LG.Display 30" IPS panels.

It's not a complain, in which case I would not send it back for a refund but for a replacement. I know that one sub-pixel fault among over 4 million healthy pixels is quite alright. It's the sum of things which includes PSU whining and the lack of ergonomics. Again, you can read about the lack of ergonomics, but you have to actually try it before you know if you can live with it.

The dark vertical waves aren't a side-effect of an IPS based screen, the current thinking is that they are poorly applied anti-glare coating and wholly down to LG.Display's lacklustre quality control of late.

1. Hazro 30" has separate PSU. How long is the cord from PSU=>monitor and PSU=>220V ?

PSU=>220V. You are going to replace the power cable those weird englishmen use anyway, so it depends on the cable you are going to use. (This doesn't involve buying converters etc., it's just a question of plugging another power cable into the PSU.) Measure the one that powers your current monitor, you should be able to use this or any other of your choice. Typically about 1 or 1,5m.

PSU=>monitor. Using my arms to measure, 1,5 - 2m.

2. How much this 30" monitor weigh w/o tablestand/pedestal ?

Absolutely no idea, a guess would be 1 kg less than with the tablestand attached.

3. Is the power adapter/monitor noisy? I'm running otherwise inaudible (<20dBAA) build.

Some buzzing + some whining. If I turn of my system I can hear it. If my system is on (it's semi-noisy) I can't hear it.

THX for info. I sent mail to Hazro abt the weight issue. I'm hoping to use LX Desk Mount LCD Arm wich is rated up to 9.1 kgs. I know people have overloaded these before. Just don't know will one last very long overloaded 10% or so. Don't want to buy GBP100+ arm every year,,,

as i have heard of double shot screens although sold only in america i havent uptill now seen one in picture so presumed they looked like the lg's and samsung..

well seeing this picture it looks for intends and purposes exactly the same as hazro's?
i thought hazro hadnt yet found a distributor in america as the double shot if i remember has been selling and spoken of in other forums for a long time now?

and there was me thinking hazro was unique in the casing....has it been ripping off another company or is it all one company using same casings?
as im shure it it was a apple itouch and samsung brought an identical out with samsung stamped on it there would be a instant court battle:D

regards..

The Hazro HZ30W 30" and DoubleSight DS-305W 30" are EXACTLY the same monitor/panel everything. However I think the DS is a little better. The glue they use on the labels is better :D

No but seriously DS is based out of Irvine California for us yanks here in the states.

Hi all,

Been lurking for months thinking about picking up a Hazro 30" , reading what's going on with Hazro QC and support: nearly did when OC had the deal on and had both the DELL 3007WFP and DELL 3008WFP screen versions were up for grabs.

Of course, they seem to be out of the 3008 model now. Anyone know what the difference was in screens and if there is a newer screen coming out soon?

The 3008-version should be the one you see for the future (gibbo explained about the panel availability issues earlier in this thread, before he left).

As for the difference between the two versions, well there is no review of the 3008-based panel (as far as I know), so it's difficult to say. Certainly the 3008-panel has a higher gamut (102% vs 92% IIRC), and slightly lower rated response time, but until somewhere like TFT central does an in-depth review we won't know which is the screen to have. There are plenty of other factors which can't be deduced from the specs (input lag, black-level, ghosting, colour accuracy etc).

Certainly the performance of the hazro screens does not exactly mirror the dell screens on which their panel is based.

Dell doesn't make panels.

My Review

Hi,

Thought I would jump in as a new buyer from OCUK.

Purchased this monitor yesterday and it was delivered today - a few problems with delivery because DHL suck but when I called the guys at OCUK they took care of hunting down where it had been delivered and I've just been and collected it and I am now in possession of a great monitor.

First thing is first, this monitor is large beyond belief.

The build quality and the finish on it are perfect - the brushed metal look really suits this monitor and although it makes it significantly heavier than most monitors it has a really classy look and feel.

The stand is impressive too, the same brushed metal but low profile and very sturdy so it can be pushed right to the back of the desk.

Hooked it up on the primary of a XFX9800GTX+XXX graphics card and no faulty pixels, a relief after previously buying a 26" from Currys only to find dead pixels center screen.

Back light distribution is uniform except for a small variation in the top right of no more than a few percent. Gently stroking the screen (no comment) actually reduced this variation to near non-existance.

Colour range and picture quality is excellent when tweaked using the graphics drivers.

I am now running at 2560x1600 (full resolution) and there are no artefacts that I can see even when running with another monitor at 1680x1050.

The controls at the bottom are simplistic but stylish, you have to tilt the monitor up from vertical to use them effectively because the bottom of the monitor does not sit high off the desk - and perhaps they would benefit from a back light for the touch buttons but overall they do their job well.

Only the 3 buttons you've expected from the HZ30W - brightness up and down and the power.

Connector wise; the the power block for the unit is reasonably large in length but is thin and fine to hide behind other components quite unobtrusively. Mind when opening the packaging as the power block comes in a seperate box that is positioned in such a way that it may fall out without notice when removing the main monitor.

A good quality DVI-D connection was included in the box.

And now for the porn...

And to finish off lets have the traditional showing off multi-monitors in the dark approach.

Great monitor, and even greater customer service from OCUK.

Oh yes, playing Crysis and Assassin's Creed on this monitor is every single bit as good as you're hoping it will be.

The monitor looks familiar :p Having 29.5 inches of display is really nice and your gonna love it. I've got two custom resolution settings setup. One for the net and one for games/movies.

It is going to take some getting used to, not so much the vertical, but the horizontal resolution and having to read web pages like forums either on another monitor or not-maximised - damned those non-fixed-width websites!
