Hazro series - HZ30Wi, HZ30WiQ, HZ27WA, HZ27WB & HZ27WC

So today I received my replacement monitor. It looks wonderful! There aren't any problems with it, except for one stuck pixel that is hardly noticeable.
I'm also happy that it's a non-glass version. I would recommend buying this version as there are less reflections and there can't get dust trapped.
I also noticed that there are now much more 'steps' for controlling the backlight. With my previous unit there were only 11, and now there are 30! The minimum brightness is less bright than the minimum brightness my previous monitor had. I think this is great because many people were complaining about the monitor being to bright.

thanks for that - quite keen on getting a monitor and good to hear some positive reviews about this one

Visit our website tomorrow as we will offer small batches of 'B grade' units at discounted prices. Site uptime is patchy at the moment as well as emails so please bear with us.

i swear i am in tears right now laughing :D

not to show any disrespect to Hazro/or Company

but this thread is scattered with lost souls who have been upset with their 'A' grade screen.

i dread to think what a 'B' grade might be like lol, if it is in fact b grade, what is the pixel policy on that? 20 white? :p

Yeah too right. I am fortunate enough to be able to cycle monitors frequently - never really settle on one in particular. Sometimes it is the case that the 'more you know' (or the more you've experienced, at least) the more critical you become and the less likely you are to ever be satisfied. When I first used LCD monitors I could happily use something around 19 inches with your typical matte screen for general purpose stuff at work. I did hang on to my CRT(s) for a long while for gaming though because the early LCDs would 'ghost' badly and cost too much to warrant the upgrade at the time.

As things moved on and my interest in the technology grew I started testing out all sorts of new fangled monitors. It has now got to the stage where my preferences have driven me to slightly dislike anything with a higher haze value than about 15% (BenQ VA range), slightly dislike anything that isn't 120Hz, slightly dislike what is actually a fairly reasonable level of input lag, slightly dislike the colour reproduction of TN panels, slightly dislike anything smaller than 27" and slightly dislike not having contrast levels and black uniformity of a VA panel... So I'm not sure what I'd settle on. Something I slightly dislike I imagine! :D

I think that overall I could settle on something like the upcoming SA970 if I had to. But there are many unknowns as that is not yet released and there were many issues that the previous SA850 had than I can only hope have been addressed. I have found alternating between the SA850, SA750 and Apple LED Cinema Display has worked quite nicely recently. They all have something different I dislike and different qualities I do like.

Was too knackered last night to formulate a reasonable response, but wanted to acknowledge your reply :)

I too get increasingly frustrating with being forced to settle... it seems no product can manage to get it "just right" per generation... you always have to make a compromise :(

My first TFT came just after the 25ms GTG barrier was broken, was chuffed with that 17" 1280x1024 screen... amazing really how quickly things improve... I would despise a laptop with that resolution screen, let alone a desktop :S

My minimum acceptable now is 1920x1080, and even that reduction from 1920x1200 is a frustration. I can understand why manufacturers have mostly switched to 16:9 ratio... it just seems like a loss of space for nothing other than marketing & cheap-ness :S

Even my work laptop is 1920x1080 on a 15.4" screen... I am really looking forward to the Macbook refresh if the rumours are true - 28XX x something res on the 17"... yes please!

The SB970 sounds promising... although to be fair, I'm quite happy with the U2711 - will wait for that Sammy though before buying more of them...

I'm tempted on getting one of the grade b ones 2moro depending on price.

What's the likely hood of having trouble with it?

About 99-99.5%

The "A" grade ones are riddled with issues.

I dread to think how bad the B grade ones are, expect as a best case scenario a few dead/stuck pixels. Most likely dust if picking up the glass version.

If you can live with that and the discount is worth it in your opinion, then you could get a "bargain".

How can I get one of these second hand?

After it for 3dsmax, photoshop, cad, photography. Think the HZ27WB is correct?

Can these be got used or second hand? How much can I expect to pay, low budget.

there were a few on the big "e" auction site, however, with so much manufacturing faults, i will not go for a second hand...

The ratio of good/bad is why OCUK are still stocking these. The industry average for RMAs on FPDs is around 3.5% according to Meko and we are well below that. For every 1 fault reported, around 30 go without issues. Forums by nature have a critical/scrutinising tone with positive feedback rarely posted. Speculation on the quality of 'B' grade units should be based on actual customer experience. As our stock is labelled 'A' or 'B' grade (with nothing in-between), there will (no doubt) be many satisfied customers receiving e.g. units used by engineers for inspection with no faults whatsoever.
