Hazro series - HZ30Wi, HZ30WiQ, HZ27WA, HZ27WB & HZ27WC

Sorry I took a while to respond.

I liked the glossy surface of the HZ27WD - it makes the image appear more vibrant and doesn't have the same noise of anti-glare, which can sometimes be intrusive (like the Dell U2410). However, the obvious downside is that you get very noticeable reflections - it doesn't take long to adjust to but it's a personal preference thing. The HZ30Wie has an anti-glare coating but it's not as severe. Personally I'm happy with either. As for gaming, I gave it a go for the couple of days that I had the monitor and found it very responsive - noticeably better than the Dell. In terms of gaming it seems to be the same as the HZ30Wie, which is to say very good for a non-TN panel.

You can run the HZ30Wie at 1440p without stretching if you set your graphics card not to scale the image - it works without issue. The same with lower resolutions like 1200p/1080p, though the border around the image is more distracting.

The one thing I would say is that the pixel density on the HZ27WD is noticeably higher. That means that the image is slightly sharper but it also means that in the desktop environment everything appears slightly smaller. That's true for the HZ30Wie at well when compared to a 24" 1200p but the it's not as noticeable. Finally, the build quality on the 30Wie is noticeably better - the stand especially but the bevel too - and it is noticeably bigger. I think it's a great monitor and am happy that I went with it over the 27WD but both are very good monitors (if you get one without any issues). If you've got the money then the 30Wie is a great pick.

Hey thanks for your reply TAC4U,

hope you dont mind me bugging you again - sitting here debating on what to do. I bought one of those catleaps 27" which is probably very similar to a hazro glossy (as far as picture goes). But Im just not sure if I can 'live' with the glossy screen and to be honest I almost prefer the 16:10.

The catleap looks quite nice for a screen but I think its a bit of a personal preference. I tend to only game part of the time and do a lot of websurfing/work the rest. And I think I find a matte display a bit easier to look at... anyways.

leads me to the 30wie -
you said you are fine to game on both - so did you end up switching to the 30inch because of the screen size then? ... how are the whites and the blacks on both monitors when you compare each other? ...
any other differences between the 2?

Ive seen a lot of people here recommend the 30wie ... like I said Im tempted but not sure what Ill do with my catleap now if I go that route.

I bought a glass front version just before xmas and noticed a huge gap this morning at the top....

And also a 3/4mm gap at the bottom...

The reflections can be a bit distracting but the advantage is that the colours and blacks look better. Personally I tend to game and use my computer in a darkened environment, though that's partly because I have a window directly behind my monitor.

The size was the main factor, especially with the difference in pixel density. I'd say the blacks were slightly better on the HZ27WC but that's just the difference between matte and glossy. There is some backlight bleed but it's pretty minimal. The whites look very good and I was very happy with the appearance out of the box - a good thing given that you can only change the colours via software. But I'm no expert on colours, so it's a purely non-technical assessment.

Differences? The HZ30Wie is noticeably thicker - it's massive. With Windows 8 I can have a Metro app pinned to the side and have two browser windows snapped to either side of the desktop as well. With the HZ27WC text on web pages was almost at the size I wanted to increase it to be more comfortable to read - that's not the case on the HZ30Wie. You can change the height which is a plus, though neither monitor supported rotating like the Dell. It's a very smooth movement for tilting into portrait mode but given the size of the screen it requires the height to be set quite high. Adjusting the height is relatively awkward, so it's best to set it the once and leave it. It has an external power supply but neither it nor the screen make any noticeable noise, apart from a slight high-pitched electrical noise when powering up. Overall the build quality is noticeably higher, especially the stand. It's big but I still use a 42" HDTV connected as a secondary display for my media viewing, as I like the over-exaggerated colours and the lower resolution isn't an issue.

As I said, I'm happy with my decision. It's not cheap but gaming is great, desktop use is great and it looks sleek. It came with no dead pixels and was a clear improvement from my previous display.

If you've got a decent display in the Catleap then it might just be the case that you just get used to it being glossy. If not - and you've got no dead pixels or issues - then you'd likely do fine selling it here, as you'd probably get close to what you paid for it. But it's quite a bit of effort, so that's something you'd need to weigh up. At the end of the day you spend your entire computer usage looking at the display so you want it to be the best you can.

Crezzlin, any reason you went with 3 catleaps instead of your 3 30 inch hazros? - I just bought a catleap and am wondering if I should have went with a 30 inch hazro instead. I think Im so used to my matte screen or something; eyes feel funny looking at the glossy screen of my catleap.
I should say instead of going for > 60 hz I think I saw you got 3 2b's.

Main reason was ££ a mate made me a offer on 2 of my Hazro so that paid for the Catleap, i would pick both but for the money if starting from scratch the catleap is a no brainer apart from warranty etc,

Catleap is cheaper and no screen glare just a nice glossy finish but the Hazro is better on the eyes when it comes to WebPages and day to day use, for some reason the catleap puts more heat or something out from the screen, if i have my head to close i feel like I’ve been on the sun beds and my contacts dry out lol

crezzlin hope this is allowed in forum rules but there is a guide here on overclock.net on how to remove the stand for vesa mounting - http://www.overclock.net/t/1225919/yamakasi-catleap-monitor-club

Hi Stanton, yeah i used the same setup for the Hazro's, worked fine but you will need a solid desk, from what i can remember you have :)

i just used 2x

if you need pics from the back i can take some, hope this helps

ocuk are collecting it on monday and giving me a full refund (cheers chris) think i'm gonna have to go with a samsung s27A950D as i have to have a glossy screen, gutted hazro have stopped making the glass fronts.

The EXACT same thing has just happened to my monitor, I've had enough with Hazro in general so would much rather get a refund and get a Dell, but as I've had this monitor now for 6 months and 2 weeks I doubt they'll refund it.

It's payday today. I absolutely settled on buying myself a Dell U3011 with my 10% off voucher. OCUK scuppered my plans by putting the HZ30Wie on offer. £594 is very reasonable and I shall be receiving this beast tomorrow. I'm worried that I'm going to end up with a duff one after seeing problems that people have re dead pixels and poor customer service, but fingers crossed my decision will pay off. Saving over £200 compared to the Dell was a bit much to turn down.

Can't wait to get rid of my poor 1680x1080 22" Dell, it's over 5 years old and has served me well but it's time to put the thing to bed (or possibly use as a second monitor if there is still room on my desk!)

They can have 1-3 dead pixles, But Hazros warrenty will only replace it with 4+ im afraid

Even a single bad pixel and it will be going straight back under DSR and replaced with the Dell. I have high expectations when paying over £500 for a screen.

I'll post on here by the weekend with my thoughts - here's hoping for a positive review!

:O They've stopped making the glass fronts? Do you know why? - as i was thinking of getting the £399 WC model. Is there an issue with them, that they decided to stop?

Both dust accumulation and the glass front slipping off seem to be common issues, dust accumulation even seems to be unavoidable by design.

They also stuck the HZ27WB in the same casing so all their 27" monitors are now basically the same casing just with different parts inside which no doubt simplified their production line.

The glass does nothing for the image you see on the screen besides adding reflections so a wise decision on their part imo.

You have high expectations with only spending £500 on a 30" Monitor?

I would have had low expectations tbh as £500 is a BARGIN price for a 30" monitor.

hence why dells are £900+ because they offer this super duper warrenty service.

Well Im with you; just bit the bullet and ordered this puppy also - Reading this website via a catleap; but decided that I want a matte screen instead (my wife thinks Im a nutter being so nitpicky about computer stuff) but hey.

Looks like I need to sell my catleap now. Least I can compare the 2 tomorrow.

ya thanks to the guys here for their review of the hz30wie - never owned a monitor this big but hey ... life is short and D3 is coming up lol ... bit worried about my gpu running this puppy with other games; I know my 6950 handeled 2556*1440 fine (in D3); 100+ fps beta with max everything; will probably just run D3 same res on the 30"

Im digressing ... I dont think my wife knows I ordered a beast of a monitor.

£500 is indeed a bargain if I get a good monitor. It is a very significant amount of money for me and I expect to receive a screen that meets my expectations - this includes no dead pixels. Thankfully the DSR allows me to have whatever expectations I like :D

I must admit that over the last 24 hours I have regretted not ordering the Dell purely through fear that I get a bad screen. It was delivered this morning so I'll find out when I get in from work this evening if I get a good screen or not. Fingers and toes crossed!!!

No you dont want to regret ordering a Dell; Ive read many many reviews and messages about the dell u3011 - it is suggested they have worse anti glare and it is confirmed input lag is much worse like compare 4 to 24.4 thats 6x worse.

Well lets keep pur fingers crossed about the pixels and other stuff
