Hazro series - HZ30Wi, HZ30WiQ, HZ27WA, HZ27WB & HZ27WC

just wondering, but why wont ocuk carry these?
Could be any number of reasons, but it's clear to me that what happened with the first Hazro monitors was quite a nightmare for OCUK, and whatever assurances they were given this time around on any number of things have problaby not turned out to be so concrete. Not that I'm suggesting anything worrisome - could be something simple like stock issues, who knows. Or it could be that Hazro think there's more profit to be made by doing it themselves, though if this is the case i think Hazro are making a mistake as OCUK carrying the screen gave me more confidence in Hazro. I'm now less interested in these screens, but not out just yet. We'll see :)

And it's not just that which is worrying me, as much as i'd love a 27-inch screen, i'm concerned it's too demanding outside of SLI/CF, and i'm not going down that route again. Would have thought the main seller would have been a 24-inch at a low price (if the 27-inch is £500, we can only imagine the price of the 24-inch). If i was running Hazro, it's where i would have started, which again worries me because why is it last on the list? Again, could be any number of reasons, all of them, you guessed it, a worry :)

But let's hope Hazro are doing well and have a proper strategy, because some competiion is really needed in this sector, and Hazro could really do well if they can get these products out in large quanities, reviewed by the major sites (though badass' TFT Central is still the best) and in mainstream retailers all round, and abroad, specifically in the USA.

Displayport, again

So as of today it's suddenly a far more iuseful connection. The Thunderbolt announcement probably means that every new monitor released will now have Displayport.
Might have to totally rethink my choice of monitor now.

Me too.
My old 19" monitor really doesn't do my new computer justice. Seriously considering the Dell U2711 now (with displayport).

Was just on their website and in the news section has this : "The HZ27Wa [LED] and HZ27Wb [CCFL] will be available to customers in November [2010]"
Hmmm, almost 3 months late, how much longer will people keep waiting before they decide to go elsewhere?

Yes it arrived and I'm in the process of testing and writing the review. It's certainly nice looking and even though they've reverted to a plastic enclosure it still looks very smart. You'll have to wait for the review for the rest but feel free to ask questions here and I'll make sure they are addressed:)

It's probably outside the scope of your review, but any chance you could try it with a Displayport cable + DVI converter (assuming you have one)? That's a make or break feature for me.

If i was to order about a week after they are for sale will the 27s still be in stock being that Hazro are low on them.

i dont have one i'm afraid :( I think the issue with that was that Hazro found it varied massively from one graphics card to another as well

Great!
So that means final version will be in plastic enclosure?
I'm guessing it is still black right? DVI?
Glossy finish - is it really that bad how some people say? Does it really reflect every light in the room?
I have Dell 2407 and never saw glossy finish or that new Dell U2711 "hardcore" AG, so cannot decide which is better...
Is review going out today?

yes, plastic enclosure but of a high standard and built quality :) Black design and stand with a silver trim around the bezel. There are two models being launched, one with only DVI. The other will have DVI, HDMI, 2x D-sub, component (which is what i have with me). Glossy panel coating can be an issue with reflections but depends how you have it positioned with windows and lights. it does add a nice feel to the panel though and certainly overcomes any grainy feel that some have found from aggressive AG coating.

review wont be finished today but expect it won't be far off as i'm working on it right now....in fact, i'll get back to it :)

Any ideas what impact this thunderbolt will have on displays.

I think potentially it could be a game changer. You can already get monitors with USB hubs, but it requires that you use one port to feed USB in.
With a displayport connector & Thunderbolt chipset (as i understand it), you could add monitor USB2/3 ports, which could be connected to any low-power USB devices (such as keyboard, mouse, external SSD drives etc), with all the data being channeled over the Thunderbolt channel. No reason why you couldn't connect a printer too, although it would need it's own power plug (10w max over Thunderbolt).

However the high data rate seems to come at a price, as the max length for 1 cable (not counting daisy-chaining) seems to be 3m, whereas with existing Dsiplayport you can go up to 15m.

So it won't really have much of an impact on image quality. Just if you want to use your monitor as a hub for peripherals.

Nope, Displayport itself can handle all today's max resolutions, although i'm wondering if the 10gig throughput would allow you to send multi-monitor (ie. 2 or 3 game displays) thru the one cable, daisychaining to the 2nd & 3rd displays at the other end?
Can't really see any point in doing that though (certainly not something i'd be interested in).

Nice Badass. Looking forward to reading. AT LAST: 27" GLOSSY, LED IPS yeah :)

To hell with AG coating. Give me glossy with as much reflections as possible
