Hellgate: Londom demo thread

I got a beta invite in mail other day, not sure why unless to do with Fileplanet cause I never asked for it.

I grabbed the Demo fast from Gamershell at 4am, but after reading threads on GameFAQ's, I aint sure I want to play it as Im more a FPS fan anyhow.

But if the Demo looks crap because its 1.4GB and Beta is 4+GB I wonder if there is textures missing.
 
Beta often doesnt contain all the highest res stuff either, dont forget demo is a lot smaller because it only contains a tiny portion of game.. hmf!
 
The beta is weighing in at two 2Gb+ downloads, think it was like 4.3GB in total and the demo is round about 1gb so the beta should have a lot more content and allow you to play any class etc....

I havent tested it yet and will prolly wait to start with the 4.3gb download till after 22:00 tonight to get onto my broadband offpeak time :)
 
Luckily is downloaded my Beta during the day (from about 10am). Part 2 of it finished at about 2pm and part 1 about 3/4 hour afterwards, running at full speed on a 2MB line.

I was dissapointed with it too but 'a mix of Painkiller and Serious Sam'? :confused: I guess theres some possible slim connection to Painkiller with the setting and all, but where on earth you found similarities to SS I'll never know. Seemed more like a half-hearted 3D Diablo to me. I was really looking forward to this too :(

I agree. I wasn't expecting anything when I loaded it up so I was pleasantly surprised. I think people have just over-hyped it for themselves, once again.

I did get into beta last night :) Name is "Sniffy".

Anyone else get this stupid error when installing. What a waste of time that was downloading that. :(

Says the file is missing when it clearly is not! Can someone verify the file size please.

EDIT: Whoops I was looking in the wrong place... hang on, may be able to just copy that file to the right location. Why of why did I notice after posting it up! :rolleyes:

EDIT2: Yup that fixed it. FFS! Lol.

Cool, have just been playing it with a random person, very fun. Currently level 8, cant remember what class, use a sword and shield as standard.
 
Well I've just played the demo through.. Seemed OK, nothing special though. Didn't look all that great and the gameplay was kinda lame too.

Shame, cos I was really looking forwards to this! Have taken it off my preorder list now too.. :(

Well the average visuals I can live with i guess, but I'm worried about the amount of bugs what with it going gold and being so close to release (its crashing a lot for me). If they manage to get a patch out on release I might give it another chance.
 
I get a lot of crashes too, a couple of times it has said available memory run out (or words to that effect) the application will close.

Not too much of a problem as it saves your progress as u go through it, after each mission, but an annoyance nonetheless.

I agree. It's ok, but nothing really did it for me. Graphics were ok, not bad. But apart from that it was boring imo.
 
Played for 10 minutes..

Graphics: Outdoors, meh, indoors, okay but nothing special.
User Interface: Not very intuitive, did they try and make the skills not even slightly understandable? There should be rpg rules on how to lay these things out.
Gameplay: A little meh too, I mean your sword goes through the Zombies like butter, it's like swatting flies out there! And the quests so far are the standard retrieve x,y or z, kill 10 x of these.

Maybe I need to give it longer, but I've just got a new 226CW monitor so I want to try something with a bit more of a visual impact :)
 
I don't understand why a lot of you are moaning that the graphics aren't super turbo make-a-8800gtx-lag next gen graphics?

I really like the gameplay, if the gameplay is good then I couldn't care less about the graphics (e.g. I've racked up ~4 hours of gameplay on Pokemon Diamond today)

I've tried the Beta so i'm under a NDA now BUT the demo is not a good representation of the gameplay.

Its still simplistic but no where near as it apeared in the demo...

Marketing wise that demo is gonna cost them allot of sales and if i wasnt on the beta i wouldnt be buying this.
