I know two people who have, because they as individuals wouldn't cope well in a trial (i.e. they're easily wound up idiots), both were just for a lesser sentence rather than to avoid time entirely.

My friends and family were great. What more could they have done?
I spoke to a solicitor as soon as I came out, said I had no one I could sue other than her but she doesn't have anything. Also I would have to prove she made it up which would be hard unless she admitted it.
These threads had didn't have anything to do with revenge. Mistakes happen, just think there should be some support for people when they do happen.

Awful story OP and I can't imagine what you've gone through.
Back in the 80s a work colleague of mine was arrested for rape.
Over what seemed to be a couple of weeks he lost his wife & job until he finally got the chance to be in an identity parade.
The woman came in, laughed and said something like "Oh I know him standing there, he's a really nice bloke called Steve and lives in my street" and then said the others weren't the rapist.
We ended up having a petition to get his job back which he did get back but he never got back with his wife because of the non trust issue.
His name was on Police records for fighting at Port Vale and it looked like they dragged him out of a hat.

I was tempted myself. I had a barrister telling me I was facing 5-10 years if I went to trial or I could take a small charge and go home that day. I can see why people do it.

With £46 and a travel voucher but also a really bad criminal record, a life changing record and a harsher regime while you were in the big house.
Was that proven, or was there not proof of guit. They aren't the same thing.
Well yes then there probably should be some kind of support but there isn't. Maybe start something ?
I think you could sell this to the DM, go with a hardworking Brit angle aiming at immigrants having more rights, and see if this close to a General election the populous cares.

How you gettin on now so many months after your release?
Cant you do something about unfair dismissal at work ?
Direct Debits not paid... That seems utterly trivial if explained why.

I'd be tempted to head down the media route, too.
And that's actually not a bad suggestion -- starting a group/movement with support in mind. Get the issue out into the light.
Contacting your MP is a good move, also.
My solicitor did suggest going to newspapers but the last thing I want is drawing attention to it and for when people google my name the story comes up.
I have already been turned down for jobs after telling them about it (have to for some jobs as it shows up on enhanced crb check). People think no smoke without fire.
The evidence was clear.

Things are fine now. Took a few months to get used to being out again and get a flat of my own. Life was back to normal pretty quickly.
The reasons work gave was something like not fulfilling my contracted hours and potentially bringing the company into disrepute if it made it to the press. Legally they are in their right. Worked there seven years, would have thought they would have kept it open but never mind.
Direct debits went to debt collectors. Almost sorted now but I have a bad credit rating now.
You would have done fine in court because you just neatly sidestepped what D.P. actually asked you.

I thought exactly the same.
I believe you 100% OP but there is a world of difference between Not Guilty and Innocent.
Like I said the evidence was clear I didn't do it. Everyone in the courtroom knew I didn't do it. There wasn't any doubt.
-Fingerprints on the phone case didn't match mine.
-Despite claiming to be left unconscious in the middle of the road there weren't any witnesses or CCTV. There was CCTV of us walking and me walking away from her.
-No medical report
If you were brutally attacked there would be some evidence.
What do you expect to happen in court? How do you prove you didn't do it? If you could it wouldn't have made it to court anyway.

Unless the person admits they made it up you can't prove your innocent.

To most people that would prove it was a false allegation but we weren't allowed to call it that because she never admitted it was made up. Officially this case didn't continue due to lack of evidence. Even this guy didn't prove he was innocent but to any sensible person he clearly didn't do it.

So basically you have been given the option 3 times in this thread to categorically say "I didn't do it I was innocent" and every time you have said "I was found not guilty" and "the evidence was clear I was not guilty" etc.
And you joined a computer based forum to tell us this.

I was being asked if I proved I was innocent in court not if I did it.
I didn't bring up my case. In fact I didn't want to because it turns the discussion away from talking about the treatment of people wrongly put in jail (which was the point of the thread) and the lack of support they get. I don't need to convince people I didn't do it as I already did that in court.
1)I was accused of stealing her phone. If I stole it there would likely be fingerprints that match. Nothing like your situation with your daughter. What a stupid comment.
2) Again there was CCTV all around the area and in a busy area. She claimed to be scream during and after the attack
3) This woman has falsely accused people before, she has no problem reporting things to the police and she was happy to bring attention to it once she thought she would get compensation. After such a brutal attack (from someone twice her size) you would expect some injuries (bruising on face, bruising on neck from being strangled, cuts from being thrown around). Completely unrealistic to not have any injuries.
