Help building a PC.

We are so chuffed. I was actually thinking I would just buy the best parts you can get and build the best pc. He he. Wife would have been fuming.

Now I have this arriving, what is the best way to improve It?

Again, I cannot Thank you enough.

It did go for 429. 270 off

ssd, definitely. minimum of 250gb. the samsung 850 evo listed earlier in this thread is a good option. i wouldn't be in a hurry to upgrade anything else, as it's basically the same spec as what i listed in parts.
don't forget speakers if you need it too.

I got the same deal. Although it's quite a low spec the base of the system (MB and PSU) can cope with up-to at least a R7 1700X , GTX1060 and 16GB DDR4.

My immediate plan is to throw in a 128GB SSD from my old system and have some 1080p gaming fun for a few months, then I'll sell the R3 and RX560 and swap in a R7, GTX1060, 8GB more RAM (probably cost like £400 net the same of the other bits).

I see. That is quite a lot of money. I guess you use yours purely for gaming then? Mine is basically for office use and Photoshop.

Incidentally, how much does the parts in side this machine sell for 2nd hand at a guess

So a bit of gaming and some programming / development work. But the base spec (with the SSD) is defo fine for light gaming and office and photoshop (photoshop might need some more RAM at some point).

I'd say the RX560 and the R3 are maybe worth 70 and 65. The MB and RAM maybe £100. So perhaps around £240 for CPU / RAM / GPU / MB. I recon probably £280 for the whole desktop second hand.

Build for fun, build to get exactly what you want, but don't build to make savings! Builds can go wrong. Accidents happen. Wrong components can be bought! Components can be fitted incorrectly or configured incorrectly! Bad things can happen. Now it's true to say that mostly everything is just fine, but you should always be prepared to throw money at a problem.

You really don't need a powerful PC to achieve what you want here. I have an old i5-660 PC that would be perfectly fine to do what you need. So you are looking at low spec i3 I think. I would suggest an SSD however, since loading times become important with lower spec systems. An important decision would be whether you need a second drive or whether you could make do with a single 500gb ssd. You do, however, need 8GB of ram if you intent to Photoshop anything.

You don't need a graphics card, you just need a CPU with inbuilt graphics. That will be fine for office work and will save a lot of money.

Thanks guys for all the help. My pc arrived today. I am not using the keyboard that came with it as it is wired and I bought a wireless one. So when i disconnected it from the settings ( trying to connect a Bluetooth speaker) i had no way to control it so had to force shut it down. Weird.

But, is there a reason I cannot connect a Bluetooth speaker to the pc?
