HM Passport office

We panicked slightly and get our daughter’s passport renewed in person which required me to drive to Liverpool. The process was really painless and actually quite efficient. We’d probably have been fine via the standard online service, but didn’t fancy the gamble. It’s a shame there’s not an office in Birmingham otherwise I’d be doing everything in person!

I need my new passport for the beginning of April. Think I'll be able to go the standard route or should I fasttrack?
It appears to be less than two weeks for the normal service at the moment based on other people I know. The other half posted hers Monday last week....hopefully here this week.

If you 'need' it, Fast Track.

I've renewed 3 passports this year, two of them took < 10 days, one is still ongoing (>30 days) due to a photo issue..

Got you. What is the issue with the photo, if you don't mind my asking?

Also can they deliver the passport to your work address?

It was rejected on not showing a clear view of the eyes.. It looks (IMO) identical to the last photo, but the problem is the person involved is a bit sensitive and has naturally more 'closed' eyes than some people.. We've redone the photo and had them almost forcibly open their eyes much wider than normal, which is not how they look, but hey ho..

As for the work address, probably not.. (Technically you can, but I'd not bother if you want it in a hurry), their guidance states residential, but do have a process for delivering to work, however it requires extra confirmation and has a subjective element to it: Passport Guidance

Sent off my son's renewal last week. Just got a text today saying it's on way. Did a digital photo at the post office and then did it online. Decent service I think. Other than the price, why does it cost so much? They must make some good money off them

I had quite a quick turnaround without fast track. However I did click the box which says "does not have another passport" - although I do.

It was a renewal and I don't see why I should have to send my other passport to them (increase chance of losing passport, means i cannot travel if I need to whilst the passport is being done, and frankly I don't see how it's any of their business). I could sort of understand if this was a first time application - but even then, what difference does it make? None.

I have a "nice" new black passport which tbh I'll only ever use to enter / leave the UK, else I'll be using my EU passport for my journeys.

Seems I have no choice, I have to go the standard route and hope it arrives in time.

The passport office offer Premium and Fast track services, but there are no London appointments available. I would have to go to Durham, Liverpool or Newport and then it may or may not be accepted!!

I have to get this off asap and hope for the best.

EDIT: They have appointments in Peterborough, but with the train fare the whole thing will cost £233...

Looks like there's a 90% chance I will have to get this delivered when I'm not at home.

If that's the case do you just have to pick it up from the post office?
