Holidays 2022

Right, this country is the only one with fast track lanes  Paying more gets you better service, who knew?

As much as it rankles, I'd pay a fiver or whatever to avoid queuing for 2 hrs (or even 30 mins) any day.
Really highlights what a bunch of simpering craven plebs the British public have become. Its really noticeable when you've been out of the country for a while.

Most people would have mocked paid fast track lanes rightly as the **** take they are. Now we just bend over and thank our overlords for giving us the opportunity to hand over more money for the basic level of service we should be getting as standard. It's truly pathetic. Of course a part of it is Hyacinth Bucket types that think the price is worth it to pretend they're in some exclusive club. Bellends.

Anyway, Flying with Jet2 from BHX on Monday, no disruptions so far, hopefully no issues now we're out of half term.

Vegas in 3 weeks on Monday for me, will be my 3rd visit in 7 months  I'm certainly making up for lost time over the course of the pandemic.

Annoyingly BA have moved the terminal they fly out to Vegas from at Heathrow to Terminal 3. Means I'll have the fun of transferring Terminals and through security again from 5 to 3 rather than the nice and easy connection at Terminal 5 in April. Built in some extra time between the Edinburgh and Vegas flights so all should be fine.

Marhaba Gold meet and greet at DXB is the ultimate fast track experience :D but seriously fast track has been a thing for business/first since flying began tbh, maybe only more recently a thing for holiday airlines (like with lounge access).Bellends? :D

Can anyone clarify the following for me:

If I book an appointment for the passport renewal premium service, can I still use my old passport to travel in the meantime whilst waiting for the appointment?

I've found that out you can. Your old passport isn't cancelled until you pick up your new one.

Business class and lounge access is another matter entirely. You are actually paying for a better service.

Fast Track for your cheap package holiday is just brain dead. What do you think happens when people start paying for this carp? Management start saying "hmm people will actually pay for this, how do we get more people to pay up? Let's make sure there's *always* a queue in the line next to it." Now everyone is getting rubbish service because of the wannabes asking to be ripped off.

I have no idea I’ve never flown that way, but I did want to commend your use of the word ******* which made me chuckle :D

I don't think you can take some high ground by saying Business class is "paying for a better service", where as paying for fast track boarding is some how different. It's literally paying a "better service" which admittedly is just boarding quicker, but it's still a better service. You can either say both things are wrong and everyone should get the same service for the same price, or accept that every bit of the flying process will be monetised eventually.

Seriously considering my next move to be west Wales.
Been here twice now and loved it both times.

It's such a beautiful part of the UK. And so few people

You‘re supposed to send your old one in when applying for a new one but in theory, the old one is still useable until they cancel it and cut the corner off. It will still need to have at least 3 months left on it to travel to the EU or 6 months for pretty much anywhere else

edit: sorry, didn’t realise the premium service was the one day urgent service. Until you make the application you don’t need to surrender your current one

Have fun in the queue at BHX, hope you can manage to contain yourself as the fast track folks swoop by.

My parents are flying from EMA tomorrow with Jet2. Dad took advantage of their twilight luggage check in. He went to the Jet2 check in desks section - it was v quiet as their last flight took off about 40 mins prior. So my parents just go through security tomorrow morning with hand luggage. Dad begrudged paying £6 for half an hour for parking in the drop off zone.

Not much point in doing this unless you live under 10-15 miles away from airport.

Great when the sun's out! MB'ing around Newborough Forest in Anglesey is epic ... back in a week or so, oh yeah.

Thinking about a week in Greece in September. She’s going to New Orleans so think I’ll go to a Greek island or two. Have to make sure I avoid school holidays though.
Any tips, must visit islands? I reckon a couple of nights in Athens, and then two islands and fly back to Athens and home.

Only 13 countries for me . Some countries I have visited 4 plus times - France (about 6) USA (4 times) and Spain (7th time in Sept)
