Holidays 2022

Thinking about a week in Greece in September. She’s going to New Orleans so think I’ll go to a Greek island or two. Have to make sure I avoid school holidays though.
Any tips, must visit islands? I reckon a couple of nights in Athens, and then two islands and fly back to Athens and home.

Rhodes, Zakynthos, Crete, Skiathos I've been to recently. All fantastic, though Rhodes definitely my favourite. Hoping to go to Kefalonia next year.

Why is it so hard to get the staff for the airports and airlines, I guess some have moved on to different jobs since covid, but I would have thought working at an airport or for the airlines would be quite an interesting job. I wouldn't mind working at an airport, if I lived closer to one, I mean on the doorstep, I can't stand London traffic.
It might not be the case but to me it feels like there are so many dosser's in the UK who just don't want to work.

I imagine like most places, they aren't paying enough. Food prices, Fuel prices for transport and electricity/heating have risen so ridiculously, i imagine most are wondering "what is the point". I certainly am. Not to mention house/rental prices are bananas, especially around Heathrow/Gatwick.

The average salaries in this country just aren't realistic anymore with current inflation.

Having just about recovered from disneyland paris, we're hoping to go out to Cyprus to see the family there in late August - bloody school holidays push the prices up though :(

Yeah ... just come back from a "considerably higher than average" price half-term holiday. Met a few people who'd gone early and taken kids out of school as even with paying the fines they were still ahead.

We've some neighbours who are stuck in Portugal an extra two days due to cancelled flights back so both their girls are missing exams (fortunately school ones rather than critical like GCSE or A level) - they may as well have gone later and paid less !

So they've jumped ship to an employer that does pay enough or stopped working altogether because "what is the point?"?

Bit of both. I am of the firm belief that the global economy is going to implode spectacularly soon.

Great - return on Sunday 17th from USA at 9am and a 2 hour drive home after that.

Citied for Jury duty Monday morning....

Will see if I can get excused from it... Not ideal as I work for myself so usually fairly busy on return from holidays....

Had a 6 hour delay going to Berlin on Thursday.. Now a cancelled flight going back today. They put us on another flight flying to Gatwick instead, so will need to somehow go to Bristol Airport so we can pickup our car... Estimate a 5 hour delay as a result.. On the upside.. Should get compensation for both, which will mean the trip is mostly paid for.

I think i am at 22.

Do you have a favourite place? like i am torn between going somewhere new just to see the world more and tick another number vs going back to a place that i really love.

Hard to pick a favourite place but mix of favourite countries and citys are Indonesia, Vietnam, Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, Budapest, Vienna.

Most return flights are what I call ‘flip’ flights. You land at your destination at 12pm and the return flight is 1-2 weeks time at 1pm.

So if the outward flight is cancelled, chances are that the return one is cancelled too

Airline should supply you with transport to your intended airport (Bristol) assuming that's where you are supposed to be flying into.

I had that once when cancelled flight and they flew me to Edinburgh instead of Glasgow but airline paid for a taxi from Edi to Glasgow so I could get my car. £110.

So our Dubai jaunt comes to an end tomorrow. I cannot say how great it has been to travel again! TFFT. Phantom to the airport tomorrow then BA first home, day flight so blinds open it’s a great way to end it.

Just through security at BHX. A bit less than two hours to get through. Quite well organised but not enough scanners open. No problems getting flight.

Landed in Gatwick an hour ago. Easyjet rep was adamant I should take the train to Bristol Airport (you can't.. Plus to Bristol it was something like 6 changes..), even though their email said they'd arrange transport. In a taxi right now (£325:eek:) going to Bristol to pickup my car and drive to Wales.. Gotta work tomorrow as well... :(

The last time I went to USA in 2008, I was supposed to fly from New Orleans to Chicago then to Heathrow. Due to storms in the middle of the country, we flew to Phoenix to Seattle then to New York - had to run the whole concourse as Seattle plane was the other side to the NY plane. Then to Heathrow. Had a couple of hours to kill at Phoenix and Seattle.

I should have landed 10pm Friday. Got to Heathrow at 5:45pm Saturday. I can't sleep on flights. Yet my mum sleeps through take off!!!

2 trips planned so far, got the BA double TP offer earlier this year which was on promo for dubai in September and have Work meeting in Miami in September (still to book flights and hotel) Need advice on where to stay and things to do in Miami over 4 days. hopefully both trips combined will give me BA gold status :)
