Homeworld & Homeworld 2 HD remakes in the works

The homeworld 2 campaign plays allot better in remastered than 1. So for the purists its probably better to play homeworld 1 classic and then try switching for 2.

Anyone played the classic versions?

HW2 classic won't load for me. Get a blue loading circle on black screen then back to desktop.

HW classic doesn't save video options so every time I load up it defaults back to 640x480 16 bit resolution. Also crashes to desktop on tutorial mission 8, when attack some target practice craft.

Edit: Trying this fix for AMD cards to load HW2 classic.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the battlestar galactica fleet commander classic yet:

There's a few patches that i had to manually fix, a fair few bugs, and setting up a multiplayer match was a nightmare, but we finally managed to get a match sorted with my friend.

Hasn't lost it's touch, i was the cylons and kept pulling him into a trap by luring all his battlestars in to attack 2 basestars and then jumping in 4 more basestars on top of him and nuking him away. In my eyes, one of the best mods ever made.

Well this is embarrassing, I was wondering why i wasn't playing as the Hiigarans in multiplayer and felt stuck on being Kushan. Didn't realised i could change :/

Has opened up the game for me because i feel i know the Hiigaran ships the best and they seem a lot more powerful than other races, i went from losing most of the time to winning most of the time

Soundtracks also 75% off so about 1.50 each.

Also lobby was added to mp on the 9th i believe. So its getting better and better just slowly. They have big plans with balance and even more engine tweaks etc and mod support. So eventually hwrm will be pretty decent. Right now, myself am just not playing it as things are changing. Might play properly in mp and sp when things are calmed down and the first balance patch which hopefully restores hw1 features and gameplay into the new engine, comes. Like fighter formations and corv wall etc.

I've been playing this game off and on for a while now, and even with the craft not holding formations, if you allocate a group a number, its quite easy to control them. One problem that rears its head time and time again is the "aggressive" "defensive" and "passive" modes, the game defaults to defensive iirc which means some of the units will go and attack something wether you tell them to or not. This tends to make positioning the units a bit tricky, although setting passive, they'll do what they're told to do.
Other than that, its a very enjoyable game, but with the game set to "hard" and with a large map it can get a bit of a handful (this is in player V cpu btw)
Deffo recommended.:)

With a big patch I'll try again!

Honestly can't remember what upset me so much when it came out, but I gave up on the remaster quite quickly, then played the original version of HW1 that came with it!

I do remember being really disappointed.
