Homeworld & Homeworld 2 HD remakes in the works

While I loved the original release, this 'remastered' version is just a pain with so many obvious issues.

I'll come back to it in a few months when the issues have been corrected but I won't be buying another Gearbox release.

I'm quite disappointed too, after all the talk of it being "a labour of love" to them I really didn't expect it to be released in this sort of state. After tomorrow I'm off for two weeks until I start my new job so I was really looking forward to spending some real time with it but I'm just not sure it's worth it yet.

I suppose I really should have bought the originals at the time as I think you had to be there to get what the fuss was about.

Either I am a great tactician, or these are two of the easiest games ever released.

I'm going to see if I can sit through playing the original versions to see if they are any more challenging.

They are a lot easier than I remember the originals tbh.

Yeah, as soon as you unlock the destroyers it's simply max your destroyer population, surround them with ion cannon and assault frigates, then buy as many multi gun corvettes/pulse corvettes and bombers as you can set wall formation and move towards the enemy.

The second game is extremely easy, even with the artificial difficulty spikes such as indestructible fighters and frigates in a couple of missions.

The AI doesn't flank you, bait you, hit you with overwhelming odds or anything, you've always got plenty of resources, your ships are more powerful one on one than their opponents and apart from two missions you only need one tactic.

Most of the 'issues' are things you won't notice if you haven't played the originals tbh. For the money it's still a great set of ganes.

Anyone else think that the ship strike formations don't really work in this remastered version?

I am very sure all those years ago ships used to stay nicely in their assigned strike formations.

The ships just break up and do what they want.

I'm playing quite a bit of multiplayer, its great fun. Even if I am loosing most of the time at the moment. The formations thing is a bit annoying at times, but you can micro around some of it. And its not enough to stop me playing it or enjoying it. Gearbox have stated that its an ongoing project for them, with several more patches in the pipeline. So it'll probably all get fixed at some point.

Started HW1:R, on mission 12 and so far the game is far to easy and is becoming boring. I'm no more than an average gamer but this game had me looking for a difficulty setting after the first 6 missions to see if I had been playing on easy mode. I have never came close to running out of RU and I have only salvaged about 6 ships, with none of them being recycled.

Does the game get any harder or is the classic version any harder?
