If that fails then lower the difficulty! 
Its horribly fast and seems to predict where you're going to run or roll on the hardest difficulty. Plus its evil the way its face dives for you so violently.
Put down a load of shock/blaze bombs. That will stop it and damage it together.
That's what I did, surrounded myself with traps! Try to take out the watchers first as well so you can concentrate on the big guy.
Amazing game this, playing on very hard and I love having to be careful and plan every battle.
The graphics are just wow and it feels so polished and well made.

Thats lame and beyond taking the biscuit.
I did it the "proper" way by analysing the weakpoints and using appropriate arrows. Took me three attempts over about 10-15 minutes. Then a guy I was watching on Twitch, did the above with all the bombs and it took him one attempt in about 2 minutes. I was not amused.

Are they triggered by proximity, or do you need to shoot at them when a machine is close.

Level 39 now. I just took down a Stormbird for the first time. I've also taken on two Thunderjaws at once and won. I love fighting the big machines. Especially when you can knock off their weapons and use them against them. Like the one that drops from the Ravager

I not long ago finished the quest where you find out about the woman who looks like Alloy and how the machines almost destroyed the world until she came up with the Zero Dawn plan. No details yet on what exactly that plan was though
Took out my 1st Rockbreaker in the quarry, died multiple times because I stupidly went in there with absolute no healing.
Was a damn fun fight though when I did kill it though, took apart the ******* piece by piece!
Just seen a nice bow I want, now I need to go out and grab a Tramplers heart.

When you finish the game, you're placed back in the world just before the last mission begins so you can go and Plat/100% the game. Obviously all the xp and loot gained on the last mission you keep with you.
Given how good the game was and how much fun I had from start to finish, it definitely deserved a Platinum!
I just started again from the beginning tonight. And whaddaya know got two fox skins within an hour, one straight after the other.
But the sawtooth mission... I damaged it to near death and it was hobbling along lifting its paw up as if it had got a thorn in it or something. I felt so sad, I didn't want to kill it.
