Horizon: Zero Dawn [PS4]

This game is freaking awesome! Interior environments are bland which is annoying but as I loved RotTR, this game is a dream!

Playing on hard as suggested and beating that Corruptor felt like an achievement!

Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez! That was really something without the weaver. My thumbs were spamming away on potions. Even then they were nearly not loading fast enough.

So I killed my first thunderjaw toe to toe last night as I wanted to practice for a cauldron. I had seen a vid of someone downing one in 11 seconds so gave it a go. Tactics worked but took a little longer than 11 seconds! :p

I think I need to upgrade freeze weapons to kill it more effectively. I used 3 bars of medical pouch and about 5-6 general health potions. If I had of been a few levels below, its tail swipes would have done me in one hit for sure. Pretty intense battle but I downed it in around 4 minutes and didnt use its own disc launchers against it.

Fairly pleased with that but dayum, I need to practice some more to down one in 11 seconds! :eek:
 
You've killed your first Thunderjaw? Thought you said you've done Cauldron Zeta?

11 seconds eh... Must have been on one of the easy modes?

No my first thunderjaw "toe to toe" rather than using terrain and hiding like a coward! :p

No i havent done zeta. I gave up as I wasnt a high enough level. Its zeta that im practicing for.

Appatently not - it was on hard. Basically the guy has two shadow sharp shot bows. One with 3 tear mods the other with 3 dmg mods. He also has a fully modded war bow with big ice dmg mods.

The method is to three shot freeze arrow the thunderjaw then use tear on his flank to open up critical core then 3 shot sharpshot damage arrows into it. Drops it in seconds. The guy in the vid trying to recreate it manages 18 seconds which is still pretty impressive on hard.
 
Really getting annoyed at being locked out of ruins now. Ive found 2 from exploring and fighting my way to them only to not be able to get in "bcuz story"

Just fought through 3 stalkers, loads of redeye watchers a few glinthawks and a couple of ravagers to basically have to turn back without goodies.

Dont call it a free roaming open world game if it ******* isnt!! :(

Feel cheated.

EDIT - on way back down the mountain I got cut scened into fighting a bloody storm bird. At least that gave me goodies though, so not a totally wasted trip!! :p

I'm 8hrs in level 13 still yet to see a cauldren are they really well hidden or just none in first few hours, I found ancient armour lab as I put in the 2 power cells I had

You should have come across a cauldron by now, its where you first learn to override the bots. Recheck the map, there's one in the snow zone towards the top right as I recall, think you get a quest for it.

Ah right yeah I can override, tbh I wish the bloody map would say what the icons mean, I know some symbols are obvious but others not.

You will most likely see your nearest one when you reveal a portion of the map...via
your nearest friendly tallneck. Just don't let it stomp on you!

Not sure. I skirted up left side on way up to get the vantage point. Think I cheated a little there as i was right on edge of play area. On way down i pretty much went through the middle where the river goes and got a short cut scene.

Had some fun with corruption arrows last night and got 2 thunder jaws to fight. Kept alternating so once the first was dead the second didnt have much health left. Finished it off and got some sweet sweet loot out of both! :)

I've seen one thus far! It was cool as ****! I wasn't flattened either...i did alert everything near as I don't do stealth well

I personally thought it was bizarre. As the path was on the left side going up across from the stream? yet you would have thought that would have triggered the scene but it wasn't until coming back down the left hand side near the cliff it all kicked off.

I broke that section anyway as I went up there looking for the last powercell before that mission was available. By the time I went back there was no battle.

It was cool the thump stomps coming off it to the rumble.
 
What do you guys recon to longevity after main story completion? I did all caldrons, got the uber armour, all tall-necks... Yet still can't bring myself to sell it just yet as it was awesome :D

Worth going after all the mini-quests etc do you think?
