Horizon: Zero Dawn [PS4]

It's sad when that final battle arrives. On the plus side once its all over, you can replay it as much as you like!

To be honest I can see myself dipping in casually quite often to try out different tactics - got to hone those skills for the DLC. :)

Also need to try and kill a Thunderjaw in less than 15 seconds. :)

I'm still enjoying it and wandering around trying to capture some fantastic poses and sunsets. Trying to decide which ones to enter into the Guerrilla Horizon Zero Dawn photo contest.

Loving the slingshot still. Especially the timed sticky bombs and that countdown sound. Lobbing one on each grazer/scrapper bang bang bang, one shot one kill.

I can't say I've played TW3, but I get how after playing a game you consider to be fantastic, other games become less enjoyable.

E.g.... I remember loving the Tomb Raider reboot, I thought it was fantastic, I loved the combat and controls and set pieces and everything, loved it to death.
Fast forward a couple of years and I play the near perfection Horizon: Zero Dawn.
Directly after finishing Horizon, I see Rise of the Tomb Raider was on sale and certainly remembered enjoying the arse out of the first one. So I picked it up.

I tried and tried and tried but all I'm doing while playing is thinking "Why doesn't Lara do this or that, what can't she move in such a way, why is this mechanic so clunky, why am I so frustrated instead of enjoying it". Honestly I don't think the formula has changed much more from the 1st reboot, and a quick search of gamerankings tells me that ROTTR was actually slightly BETTER received than the 1st, but it's like I now know how good stuff can be and indeed..... Horizon has spoiled other games :D

I'm one of few who doesn't care at all for the wit her 3, sure it's pretty and I love my fantasy however couldn't get into at all, this however is amazing I just want more time to be able to play it!

One thing these games really need to sort out is the climbing mechanic. It gets quite frustrating at times jumping at invisible walls on rock faces and I'd like to see your character scrabbling for and finding hand holds over rocks where it looks feasible.

Uncharted, RotTR and this all use exactly the same trick with the highlighted edges and I wonder if there is a way it could be done better. RotTR actually did well with the ice pick bits but it was still mostly constrained.

Is anyone going for 100%? Not sure I have the will right now to find those missing data points!

Once I saw trophy list I thought he'll yes I will however I'm not so sure now as the trails put me off :/

If by 100%, you mean 'Platinum Trophy' then you don't need to obtain all data/recordings/scans etc....
If you just mean 'Challenge yourself to get 100% of everything'... then have at it :D

Im 63hrs in and I have just got the override. Enjoying how the story is panning out.

When elisabet gets locked out - thats shield weaver armour she is wearing, right?

I still have a ton of other stuff to do too. Lodges, side quests, errands etc.

I can see this pushing 100hrs for me by the time I have had my fill. :)

Yes, I agree with you totally. One of my very few gripes with Horizon is the lack of freeform climbing. Uncharted 4's climbing, although also relying on "highlighted" edges, still looks the best IMO.

I guess the only open-world game where distant mountains aren't just a background is the new Zelda. It's mental that you can climb practically everything.

Yes but it isn't the one you notice early in the game.

Still amazed the stunning locations you can find that I've never been before. So many great places to snap photos.

Thunderhead in under 15 seconds errrrr pass.

Have finished the game, loved every minute, but can't see myself going back into until some dlc pops up.

That slingshot weapon is insane. It doesn't take a great deal of the slingshots to take down the Thunderjaw.

Are you talking about the Shadow Blast one? I tried freezing and getting sticky bombs on the heart but kept missing so didn't manage it. I still find that tearblast & freeze then disc launcher to heart or nexus works best for me.
