Horizon Zero Dawn

Just picked this up on sale from CDkeys, played about 40mins so far... seems decent enough, runs well for me at all ultra 4k 60fps so far which was nice to see.

How are most of you guys playing this, keyboard and mouse or controller?

Played this earlier release last year and its amazing. Probably one of the best games i played in 2020. It had a few optimisation issues back then and it would struggle in certain areas even at 1080p.

Played the whole game with keyboard and mouse, its the only way tbh.

Been on the fence about buying this game for a while. On paper it has everything I want from a game but the combat looked a bit naff, does it play better than it looks?

Keyboard and mouse, done it on PS4 with controller and kB and mouse is better, easier to get accurate bow shots.

Mouse and keyboard here.

The combat is great, really varied and quite challenging actually. You often need to plan ahead as to which tools you will use before you engage. Running straight in to a fight, especially in the first half of the game will most likely result in your death.

Totally agree, plus there are often multiple approaches you can take to defeating the same enemies, especially later on in the game after you've unlocked new weapons and abilities.

Yeah, I've seen all sorts watching people on Twitch. Some are spamming the time dilation feature by jumping up and just firing arrows willy nilly. Others rush in and just melee the bots with their spear. Others set traps all over the place. Then there are people like me who use the Focus device and try to get at highlighted weakspots. (I love the challenge of shooting the big T-rex ones in the heart.) I can imagine this game feels glorious at 60fps+. I've only played it at 30fps on the PS4 Pro.

Really looking forward to playing this. Had it for few months already in my Steam library but was waiting for my 3070 to turn up first which it did last week :) Now I need to finish AC Origins before i start otherwise i wont finish either

One of the best games available. Compelling story IMO, and great graphics.

Human combat isn't that good, but that's not really the selling point of the game.

I actually stopped playing it because I didn't want the story to end LMAO. Will get back to it soon.

While the story and graphics are nice, the gameplay is super repetitive. Got bored of it fairly quicky, maybe best to watch a highlights video of all the story elements.

This is one of those games I'd love to be able to forget the story and play again fresh as the story was utterly amazing, and the voice performances and writing so good. The sense of mystery about the world and why it was that way was so strong, and the revelations never disappointed and were sometimes shocking.

I really hope the sequel comes to PC.
