US: House of Cards

The first handful of episodes is great, like a game of chess it played put beautifully. The middle and second half slowed down a little because you don't get that end of episode conclusion you've been getting but it is all a master plan of a chess game which comes together in the end.

Good show, clever writing and very well made.

Recently started watching this and am loving it! I do agree that it has been hard to keep up the level of awesomeness but hopefully they can fix that in the second series. I'm up to episode 11 now.

I was really enjoying watching this and was on Franks side but he's starting to get pretty dark now, especially now that he killed Russo

Not really bothered that it wasn't released weekly. They certainly got a lot of positive reactions by using a different approach. I'd imagine most people signing up to Netflix now will not have seen all episodes of the TV series on there so it's no different to watching any other program on there.

I really don't understand why people want them to release it weekly, why not just wait a day/week/month between episodes if that's what you prefer? I like the fact that you have the option to watch as much or as little as you want.

I really enjoyed the first season, Kevin Spacey is excellent.

Blitzed through this in a little over a week, i'm not a fan of american politics in general but it's so well written and acted, i've been addicted. Anything similar that isn't The West Wing?

Boss - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1833285/

Only 2 seasons before canned, but don't let that put you off it's well worth watching - probably too high brow for the American audience at the prime time slot it was shown at.

Kelsey Grammars performance is superb.

Just finished Season 1 of this House of Cards - loved it.

Much obliged, will give it a go, loved Kelsey in Frasier so hopefully wont disappoint.

Has anyone watched the UK original version of House of Cards?

After watching the Netflix version I tracked down the original. It obviously hasn't got the same production values (not to mention being 20 years old) but have to admit I really enjoyed it. The lead (Francis Urquhart) really makes the show - inserts real humour into his deviousness.

Im old enough to have seen the original UK version when it wass first transmitted - and this imo (at the time) was SO much better than the US version.

No dis-respect to the show as it is, Kevin Spacey is fantastic and the show is pretty top notch (compared to most of the **** around today on tv) even though it did sag a little in the middle - but the UK version was supreme.

(Obviously knowing and understanding the UK political scene a little more helps to really get the most out of each relationship on scene, but FU just nailed the charachter completely)
