HOW DO I BUILD MY PC NOW IVE BOUGHT ALL THE BITS?

well the antec 300 user manual on the website documents connecting the power and HD LEDs so they must be there somewhere.. lol maybe the power switch lights up or something?

Buying stuff without knowing how to do it isn't such a great idea to be quite honest.

Dont be such a spoil sport dude :p

Thats how I built my first one.

I knew it was possible to build a computer so I thought if other people can do it so can I!

We all started off somewhere silenced and these days it's a lot easier then it was in the day for some of us old codgers so leave the guy alone lol.

Totally agree... although I spent a fair bit of time traveling back and forth to Manchester with bits and bobs as I couldnt be fussed waiting for collections and deliveries from ****. Honestly have fun building it dude, theres nothing like knowing your machine was done by your hands

I'm just saying, I mean it isn't the best idea, I'd just mess about with an old PC until I know the ropes.

And yea, I know we started somewhere, once again, I'm just saying it wasn't the best idea with an expensive rig.

Just touch your case while holding any parts that are static sensitive, no need to get a wrist strap.

No, no, no!! That is bad advice...

If you are in a room with a carpet (or sources of static electricity). You should really wear a wrist strap. A replacement Q6700 (why not Q6600??) costs around 150.00. A wrist strip costs 5.00 max. Do the maths.

Op

That's very highend stuff for a first build (but reasonably well chosen)!! But good on you for just launching into the process!!

Good luck hope it works out for you!!

ive got to ask bob.are you saying the Q6700 was a bad idea and i should have gone for the Q6600?or have i misread your post?

you have 2 led's on the antec 300 case at the top next to the power reset buttons, both are bright blue but nice and small

the standard fans on the 300 do not have leds, u can get some nice chrome fans with the same blue leds for a few quid.

cable management in the antec 300 is a little tricky for the psu sits down at the bottom,

Benen don't start worrying about whether you should have got this or that you have what you have concentrate on getting it put together :).

your absolutely right rizlaking

im sitting here wondering though...i have three days off work from tomorrow and i want to start the build tomorrow....but im waiting till thursday to start cos i think thats when i will have all the extra little bits through the post...

those little bits consist of antistatic w/band, operating system, pc toolkit and mouse n keyboard...

i guess i can start the build without these items can i?

maybe fix the ram and cpu to the mobo - will that require any of the above items i havent got yet?

Best bit of advice anyone can give you on your first build is to be patient take your time and don't let your enthusiasm get the better of you. As long as you read the manuals that come with your components you should be fine.

No - just ignore me!! (The Q6600 is an excellent "overclocking" CPU - not relevant if you're just finding your feet.)

You've made some excellent selections for a first build!! I'm sure the machine will really fly.
