HOW DO I BUILD MY PC NOW IVE BOUGHT ALL THE BITS?

i too am worried to hell about building, main worry is not grounding my self properly and screwing up my expensive parts.
but i've installed psu, ram, hdd, cd drives before in my current pc as they needed to be replaced. so in theory i think im halfway through building a real pc.
i'll be keeping my eye on this thread.
goodluck

Just don't be nervous ... relax !

You'll probably do more damage being nervous.

Not sure if anyone has suggested this but try building the PC out of the case first... It's a lot more easier.

psu in!!!!!4 screws and that was it - doddle! "gulp"

second REAL problem is when the baby wakes up i have to stop till he sleeps again (2-3 hours!).

most people are telling me i should put ram into motherboard then cpu into mobo followed by heatsink + fan to cpu(apparently ram into mobo first because some heatsinks are so big that i wont have room to put the ram in because the heatsink is blocking the way.

does that sound about right?

It just means adding the majority of parts to the motherboard before you put it in the case.

Two reasons, one it gives you a bit more room to work with, and two it allows you to test all or most of the comonents to see if they work.

There is nothing more frustrating that installing everything then to find out that the motherboard is faulty and you need to remove it from case to send it back.

This way if you know that the board powers up, the fans spin, you get a picture on your monitor, then if after installing said parts within your case, and it doesnt work, you have a fairly good idea that you've missed something or not connected something, as opposed to one of the parts being faulty

It can also give you some idea of the the mess that you are looking at with regards to cabling, so then you can plan how to keep the case as tidy as possible

right - babys awake - watch this space for more fun and frolics over the next few days!!!

FEW MORE DAYS ! Suspense is killing me dude.

When I get new gear, it's up and running in 30 mins and left to benchmark for a few days before it goes in the case.

Nothing worse than components just sitting there and you not knowing if they work or not

does the fan on your psu , suck air in or blow hot air out??

u dont want it the way u have it if its blowing hot air out , it will heat up all the case innards.
