A 3 seconds improvement coming from CS2 to CS3, which is good. (approx 20% improvement) this will be mainly down to the universal binary as it isnt having to run under a Rosetta layer.
I'd be interested in people running the test again with the CS3 Beta. What's the change in XP and OS X and from PowerPC to Intel hardware with OS X?

I'm currently running a 3GHz P4 Northwood and in CS2 it gets 1min 36 sec. Going by blueCAT's and Moredhel's times a 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook running CS3 might get under 30 sec! It seems pretty crazy that a little plastic laptop can beat a heavy metal desktop by so much - I guess that's progress! :)

1min 47sec
Win XP Home
Elements4
A64 3500+
1 gig ram
Graphics Card: Nvidia 6600GT 256mb

2min 45sec
Win XP Home
Elements 4
Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop
Intel Pentium M 730 1.6 GHz
512 MB ram
Graphics Card: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 GM

Photoshop CS2 - 59.1 seconds

Photoshop CS - 1min 20.2 seconds

That's quite a difference!

Spec:

Opteron 146 @ 2.7ghz
Abit Av8 HTT @ 270, 10x multiplier
Geil ONE pc4800 1gb @ 225mhz 2,3,3,6

XP Sp2, loads of stuff running in the background inc F@H.

As a bit of a comparison, I ran the CS2 test on one of my other F@H boxes.

A64 @ 2.6ghzh
msi neo2platinum HTT @ 260, 10x multiplier
1gb ddr sdram @ 173mhz 2,3,3,6

Pretty lean system with only F@H in background

It got 1min 3 seconds

I take it having 2gb of memory makes a massive difference?

[edit] I've just installed the CS3 beta and run it on the Opteron.

Result - 56.3 seconds
