How feminists effect gaming

I realise when you're young that being part of a 'cause' can seem important and give your angsty teenage years meaning...but trust me, one day you'll grow up and look at the time you identified with 'gamergate', and cringe.

You'll also realise that this little crusade you're part of it is just a tiny fringe little clique howling at the wind, while the vast majority of normal people just get on with their lives and enjoy playing games, because the reality is, nobody is stopping you playing japanese fapping fuel if you want to.

did you read the article or are you just spouting nonsense?

Yep, I read it, and it was the usual howling at the wind from a marginal group of sexually-repressed man-babies.

The 'fight' does not exist. It's only people having different opinions on social media. Fortunately we live in an enlightened age where people are free to air their opinions, and people and corporations are completely free to ignore them.

If you are unhappy that you can't buy DOAX3 in Europe....the *only* people you can blame are Koei Tecmo. Or you can import it, because a feminist expressing an opinion DOES NOT PREVENT YOU FROM BUYING THE GAME.

The people that should get the blame are the sjws and feminists as they rightly have, the article nails it IMO

The 'sjws and feminists' haven't stopped Koei Tecmo releasing DOAX3 in the West. They CANNOT stop them releasing it. Koei Tecmo have CHOSEN to not release it. The decision to release or not to release the game lies ENTIRELY with Koei Tecmo.

Can you post a reference to the law that is preventing DOAX3 being released in the US and European markets?

Last time I checked, opinion pieces on web pages wasn't law.

And Koei Tecmo have issued a press release stating that the employee who wrote the initial post on facebook was talking ****.

Quelle surprise.

I think it is stupid sexist game anyway, basically softcore porn for 13 year olds. This "gaming convention" of over sexualising women needs to go away now that gaming as an entertainment medium has grown up and should taken seriously in terms of telling a story and having good characters. And I feel gaming generally is moving in that direction, with games like this ruining it.

Define "sexist".

The tilte features topless men too.

Who is being discriminated against?

As for sexualising women. The consumer decides whether or not the content is sexual or not. I've played the dead or alive games. And have yet to go hard at the site of their female characters.

Stop moaning and move on.

And another thing.

"Games like this" cause no harm to the industry what so ever.

If the storm in a tea cup is anything to go by, you're playing it wrong :D.

Ha :D

It was a pretty vague statement anyway - it was the neckbeards who filled in the gaps.

I quite enjoyed Jim Sterling's vid on the issue (mainly reflecting the PlayAsia angle);

As someone who doesn't like pointless pervy nonsense in my media... I still think it's wrong to prevent a game like this from releasing in the West and/or censorship. If I don't like it, simple, I just don't have to buy it. But other folks do like it and would want it. Just because I don't like something doesn't mean other folks shouldn't be able to have it. I'm not interested in MOBAs or RTS, but that doesn't mean those games should be gotten rid of just because some folks don't like it. As with most things in life, there'll always be different opinions. The biggest concern here is, is this hurting anyone? Unlike things like micro-transaction and over-priced DLC which affects enjoyment of a game, I don't think anyone is exactly losing sleep or in pain over the existence of this game.

I know it's annoying, but sex (or rather the lack thereof) sells. People didn't complain about games like the Witcher and Bioware games that much, why are they putting on a double standard for this? I guess one could argue that those games had the context of actual sex (that actually happens) to justify such inclusions and that the pervyness in these DOA games don't have much of a purpose besides 'look boobies!' Heck, it's one of the reasons why I don't particularly like these games. But is it really hurting anyone? I don't think chicks have to worry about their boyfriends being more interesting in DOA chicks than them, it's just images on a screen. If if that is an issue, just dump the guy and get a better boyfriend who has a grip on reality. It's not like there hasn't been games where men have been similarly sexualised, I'm thinking of that Iron Bull character from Dragon Age right now. So what he shouldn't be in too?

Imagine a world without porn... sure it might be nice in some ways, but in other ways there'd be a lot of trouble brewing. Stuff like this keeps young folk entertained and out of trouble. Better for hormonal adolescents to gawk at pixels on a screen than to leer at actual real people and make them feel uncomfortable. A necessary evil? Perhaps. Though evil is too strong a word IMO.

Although this isn't my cup of tea, i still think it should come to the west.

Why is this sort of thing not allowed but magic mike xxl absolutely fine?

The game isn't being released in the west due to low sales projections. It has nothing to do with censorship and this has been confirmed by the publishers.

This seems to keep getting missed, so let's just highlight it

No one is preventing anyone from releasing the game in the West. They have decided not to because they don't think it will sell. No censorship involved.

OK, moving on

The playable characters are all women. I can find no evidence that the male non-playable characters have tanlines, speedo mishaps or package bounce physics. Unless you can find something that says I'm wrong there, I'm going to say "women"

And another thing.

"Games like this" cause no harm to the industry what so ever.

Bearing in mind more women are playing games than men now, it seems short-sighted to potentially cut out more than half of the potential audience.

Actually there was much written about Witcher for the exact reason much of the nudity seemed to be 'look boobies!'. They do at least have the point that there is a large and overriding story and the sex is very much a secondary issue. That's why you didn't hear about it as much as Quiet from MGS5. Witcher and Dragon Age are also both rated PEGI 18.

It's not like there hasn't been games where men have been similarly sexualised, I'm thinking of that Iron Bull character from Dragon Age right now. So what he shouldn't be in too?

So, that's one example, against the 9 playable characters in DOA. Name 8 more, then I'll take a turn :p

This isn't a numbers game. You were given an example.

Fact of the matter is. If you're unhappy with the way a group is portrayed in media (not just computer games). Then don't view it. Simple as.

I think the ordeal that insects have to go through in I'm a celebrity get me out of here, it atrocious. I'm not going to kick off about it though because there are those who like it. I don't. So have chosen not to watch it.

But since we're talking about computer games. How do you feel about violence in computer games. I guess you're against that too. People like you (those who moan because they wholeheartedly believe their cause is just, without flaw and Understood by the majority) really do annoy me. Lol
