How hot should a Q6600 G0 be on a Tuniq Tower at idle, mine seems toasty.

can you take a pic of the TT face on the fins.

I cant believe that they can be that bad as to stop the air flow, that much.

Try lapping your TT, and the Q6600.

Warranty & chance that you might damage it. (I'm referring to the CPU here, not the Tuniq).
If a cooler like the Tuniq is mounted properly (and undamaged), temps would be a lot lower. It just needs putting in properly with the correct amount of TIM applied in the correct manner.
And since you'd have to take the Tuniq of to lap anyway, best just to reseat the Cooler. I'm sure once this is sorted everything will be fine.

I'm about to redo the thermal paste, which method do you sugest to use?

and btw the TIM is TX-1 not TX-2.

should I do a line and then just let the heatsink spread it out when i put it on?
and if so which way does the line go? ie. parrallel to the text on the cpu or not.

spread it with finger in rubber glove.

or use a credit card?

the first idea seems to be the easiest thing to do.

what do you reckon?

Do a line across like this

It doesn't need to be a thick line.

Yeah it will still work.

The line has to go in the direction of the one in the picture (the 2nd pic shows why).

I would try to have the line as thick as an uncooked grain of rice. If you've got plenty of paste then you can do a trial run to see how well it spreads out.

ok, I think I get it.

I only have enough paste for one go really.

thanks for the help mate.

i'll keep you posted on how much it help temps.
