Depends what it is. If it's a beer night then 6 or 7 will be the limit, simply because it just bloats me and crucifies me the following day.

There's a Whiskey bar near me and that's my favorite haunt. Can go 10+ deep and not feel to rough the following day, though I don't do that as often as I did.

Only places I'll hold back is if I'm out with the partner as she enjoys cocktail bars and [you just can't go in deep at those places. 20 quid a time and sometimes more... you're down 100 before the nights even started.

I’ve realised that drink and me don’t agree. I’m trying to realign my relationship with booze and moving away from drinking so much. Trouble is, almost all activities centre around booze. I arranged a trip to a VR racing sim centre on Friday, we sandwiched this with visits to pubs so my attempt to not drink was quickly undone.

I had about 6 or 7 pints between 7-11 with a 90 minute break for racing. Felt awful the next day. Used to easily drink in excess of 10 pints and then multiple shots, maybe another six vodka and cokes and some whiskies. Plus the pre drinking of maybe half a bottle of vodka and a few cans. Don’t know how I didn’t die!

The only reason the vast majority of people drink after about the age of 30 is chasing the unattainable goal of replicating a great night they had when they were a teenager. I think you gradually realise that you can still enjoy it but in a different way and involves much less booze.

Everyone has a complex relationship with alcohol to one extent of the other.

I'm over 30 and just prefer to day drink now instead so I can be in bed at a reasonable time :p

Was out last Saturday night with a few friends, pre Christmas drinks as we won't see each other over the holidays.
I had about 6 Guinness, and then a can of cider at home, should have eaten just before going out or during the night as I felt knackered Sunday .
I used to be able to drink more with less ill effect but I'm 37 not 25 . I don't drink as often as back then.
Not really a fan of going out to pubs due to cost and the fact it takes longer to recover so you're effectively stealing time from yourself.

It used to be 5-7 pints I would say. But recently I've not been 100% and have been out a few times either not drinking, or having beer, then alcohol free beer etc. It's been lovely not being hungover, which is the part I can't stand.

That is absolutely insane. A friend of mine the other day said he drank 1.5 litres of whiskey one night recently. Honestly, I don't know how people like you and him are still alive!

If I'm out for a pub night (exceptionally rare since Covid) I would probably have 5 or 6 pints of bitter/ale. That's quite enough to get a little merry, have a laugh with my mates and not be falling down drunk, which is all I'm after. :)

When your intake of your drug of choice poisons you badly enough for you to consider it "too bad", it's certainly a good idea to cut down on your drug use.

When I was younger, I misused alcohol to a silly degree. I've drunk myself unconscious. I've lost memory for hours on end. I've come to lying in vomit, probably my own. Been there, done that. What's the point? Alcohol is a fun drug in moderation, but it's addictive and poisonous and carcinogenic and while active it reduces your mental and physical capabilities. It can kill you quickly or slowly, directly or indirectly. If it was a new drug it would be illegal, probably class B, maybe even class A.

I was teetotal for about 15 years, until I was sure I could use alcohol in a moderate way. Trying to look at it from the outside, it's a bit odd how casually alcohol use is treated simply because it's normal. Quite a lot of people boast about using alcohol often enough to develop a tolerance for it. I'm not aware of that being true for any other drug.
I honestly find other drinkers are the best way to encourage you to cut down. Almost everyone I know that drinks may not be addicted to alcohol but they are certainly dependent to some degree, and the impact on their health is obvious. It’s totally their choice and I’d never encourage them either way but I don’t know anyone that is better off for drinking. I know a few whose lives have improved significantly by quitting, however.

Best thing to do is have a sober night amongst drinkers, then you will realise how annoying they are. It will either make you stop drinking or become a raging acholic

I only go out once every 2-3 months, but when I'm out it's 1 or 2 pints of Guinness, then onto spirits like JD & coke, these can often be doubles and add up pretty fast.
Sometimes rounds of shots get bought as well so it's hard to put a number on it

Never have a hangover though, never had, no matter how plastered I've been. Even back when I was 18-20 on real messy nights where I'd crash in the bus shelter outside work to save walking home and having to walk back to work 3hrs later :D

Beer is a terrible drink to get heavily drunk on - the hangovers are ghastly after more than 4 pints. A couple of pints of water in between can be a miracle.

Haven’t been on a night out in a long time but I’d say 5-8 drinks.

I've done it infrequently over a longer night, starting with pre-drinks around 5-6pm and usually ending up around 5am with me vomiting in the bathroom :s with breaks for food in between - a bit of bread, pizza, chips, etc. to soak it up. You definitely regret it the next day.

Someone doing that on a regular occasion has problems.

Would be very frowned on these days but years ago I worked with someone who'd park their car at work, come back to it to sleep for a couple of hours before starting work the next day.

6 or 7 is about what I can take without getting a stinking hangover. I'll be dehydrated, and won't sleep very well, but I can stand it. I usually have about 1 per hour that I'm out, and if I go out, it's usually from 7-8PM until 1-2AM. If I'm out longer than that, I'll try to switch to soft drinks. If I go to a pub in the day, to eat or or to chat for an hour or two, I won't be drinking alcohol.
I rarely drink btw. I've been out twice since the start of the pandemic, and even before that, it was only a few times a year. I don't drink at home. I can't remember the last time I was so drunk I threw up. I'd guess it's probably more than 15 years ago.

See... theres two types of night out for me... There is the casual night out, were talking guys having some food and drinks, normally work related but not always ~6+ drinks with food and just chill night.
Theres also "Out out", the lets let it all hang out style of night out, usually 2-4 times through the year. Usually mess functions or other special events like overseas trips etc.
