Based on last week's shenanigans about 15, 8 or so pints + several sambuca shots and I can't even remember what i drank at the casino.

I am glad I don't go out often at all any more.

So you won't be changing your name to Quark and opening a bar? :)

I'd be a bit leery about taking what is claimed to be a new class of drug. If it works, where's the safety testing?
It's classed as a food supplement I think and has had to satisfy the associated safety protocols to the regulating body(ies) in the markets it's being sold in.

It's USP is it works on the same receptors in the brain that alcohol does so you can get a buzzy feeling off it equivalent to the first drink or two.

The active ingredient is passionflower, a long established herbal supplement/medicine. I'm not clear if the other botanicals contribute to or compliment the effect besides taste.

I might give it another go (I bought 50cl bottle), but we're a way off Star Trek yet...

When you’re out on the bevvies, what’s your typical consumption? Trying to get a feel for how I compare to others.

I need to cut down cos my hangovers are getting too bad these days.

Having become a recluse I can only speak pre COVID, where I drank until either the money ran out or more usually until things got blurry and I was becoming a danger to myself and likely to be unable to persuade a taxi driver to get me back home.

Or if I did, I would be in a state that would rile 'er indoors for days, and have the woman opposite peering watching me fumble for the gate keys for ten minutes, or fall over trying to climb over them.

1-3 for me in this day and age, I don't really pub it anymore as my drinking almost always involves going for a sit down Indian as well, but in my younger days I would probably do 6 - 9 maybe 10+ every now and again.

I do remember the good old days, rose coloured glasses firmly in place, where I could get drunk, a kebab and a taxi home for £10.

The poll is useless because it varies so much.
agreed, you would need to ask only people your own age, even then everyone is different
for the record, i used to binge drink so it was 10+ (that includes pre drinks, drinks in bar and then drinking until you fall over at someones house :D)

Probably five pints or so over the course of an afternoon/evening but would be accompanied by a brutal hangover these days, can’t handle my drink for **** anymore so I rarely do.
A brutal hangover after 5 pints? I wonder what causes this, it's not just dehydration. I'm 40 and know what you mean but the brutal hangover is more if i've mixed or had over 10 pints and hardly surprising.

I have a friend with a similar issue and it is because he abused drugs in his Uni days

Quality.

e.g. I cannot take a single drink from Hobgoblin brewery, I don't know wtf they do to their beer, but I have ONE drink from them and I feel like **** the next morning. Two and I am wrecked. There's just something in their beer that really disagrees with me.

Give me five Belgian beers and I wake up feeling awesome.

it's funny how attitudes have changed. at work now young people in my team talk of going on dates with people for a coffee .. back in my day a date involved a significant amount of booze.

my general pulling technique tended to be finding the most drunk lasses at the bar and chatting them up .... I am told that is considered bad form these days (don't get me wrong I would be as drunk as they were so to me it was fair game)
even just 15 years ago my work team used to go out most Thursday nights and it is fair to say we were not firing on all cylinders on Friday morning (luckily there was a bus to work where I lived as I was not always fit to drive).

I suppose it's a lot more civilised now and certainly healthier........ but God I used to have some fun back in the early 90s and I would not swap my social experiences back then with the youth of today.

over the years I have ruined most spirits and a few beers due to over indulgence. just the smell of whiskey or tequila make me want to throw up now

I very rarely drink alcohol and only usually when I go on holiday but when I do, I manage to keep up with my Brother-In-Law who has been an expert for decades.
We'll be drinking from 12 and usually get through 10 pints of Guinness and some Brandy & Baileys until 1am in the morning.
Funnily enough after all that Guinness I feel that I could get in a car and drive but if I had 10 bottles of Newcastle Brown I'd be having my stomach pumped - no idea why.
I find it weird how different people react to different drinks.
I know the most placid bloke in the World and I offered him a Newcastle Brown one night and his wife snatched it away saying he becomes horrible on only one but he'll drink Lager like water and smile all night.

That sounds like a hops allergy tbh. Lower hops less issue. Wychwood beers are generally high in hops relative. I wouldn't say that's a difference in quality. Wychwood is the UKs highest producer of organic beers and known to be one of the highest 'quality' brewers in the world when it comes to their drinks.

I expect if you had a lot of craft beer you'd have a similar issue compared to a wheat beer such as from Belgium.

Nah, it's not that. I love my IPAs and drink a lot of craft beer. There's just something in Wychwood beer that makes me feel dreadful. No idea what it is.

No idea then, with all of them? Do you drink any other Marston's branded drinks? They all use different hops and barley etc depending on the drink from them. They also make lots of other drinks that are labelled for other smaller brands/companies and stuff like the organic range for King Charles.

I don't drink alcohol these days.

But in my younger nightclub days hard cider was my favourite tipple.

I've regularly drank 10+ pints of cider. It usually happens on those 2 for 1 deals.

Eating food helps with drinking more alcohol.

I probably had 10 + drinks last Saturday although that was between 3pm and 11pm. Was ok the next morning although could feel I did drink. Don't tend to have more than 4/5 most of the time though as that's my cut off to still feel good at the gym the next morning.
Works Christmas party tomorrow and work pays for it all so will definitely be having more than 10. :p
