I should have mentioned, I've tried that too.

So far I've done the following:

Home wifi (Ubiquiti access points) with WPA2
Home wifi (Ubiquiti access points) with no encrytion
Home wifi (BT Homehub) with WPA2
Home wifi (BT Homehub) with no encryption
Guest wifi at work (Meraki access points) with WPA2 encryption
Tethering to an iPhone 7 on EE
Tethering to an iPhone 6S on Vodafone
Tethering to an iPad Pro on EE
EE 4G in car wifi thingy
FordPass on iPhone 7
FordPass on Samsumg Galaxy something-or-other

When I'm using the wifi at home I can see the amount of traffic that the Sync 3 passes and it's minimal, less than 1Mb up and down and that's including the traffic from my pinging it. On a few occasions (mostly when tethering to an iPhone) I've left it checking for updates for > 1 hour. The Sync 3 has had a couple of master resets too.

I'm hoping that when an update is available (I believe my unit is up to date) I'll be able to transfer it via USB and then maybe the OTA updates will work.

Do you mean in terms of known issues? If your buying a facelift they are not that old and I'm sure there is still warranty on the motor.

The St3 comes with almost everything anyway. Don't be to concerned with the sat nav as you can unlock it if it's sync 2. If you want the newer sync 3 model that's different. I went with a stealth grey with the style pack. First and second can scramble for grip at times but you get used to it. I done the induction kit upgrade recently which adds a bit more life. Hopefully by next year I complete stage 1 or 2 upgrades. The seats are heavy bolstered so if your a big lad try them out first.

I'm a big (read that as fat) lad and the seats are absolutely fine for me. They're a bit awkward to get perfectly comfortable but that's nothing to do with the bolsters.

On a daily basis I find my ST3 to be great, very easy to live with.

In terms of options, I went for everything (but style pack rather than black style pack). The heated steering wheel is excellent, well woth the £90 or so it cost me. The premium sound sytem isn't all that premium but it still sounds pretty good.

Nice! The 2 best colours on the ST. I had a performance blue one last year but I still have an itch to own another ST225 in the Asbo Orange as it looks incredible. One of the best colours Ford ever done.
Not sure what they were thinking with the Tangerine scream on the mk3 that looks yellow and the Molten Orange on the Fez ST that looks salmon pink

why couldn't they have just carried that orange over to them?

I really wish the Mk3 ST3 were available in Asbo orange, that's definitely the colour I would have bought. I don't like Tangerine Scream much so ended up going for deep impact blue.

There's something about the Mk2 ST that I love, I can't even put my finger on it.

Favorite cars I've owned, and I've had two, Blue and Silver. Always wanted an orange one. Might buy one just for the lolz as a toy/keeper.

Same, My first one was orange and the one I have now is blue. They are just fun car's IMO and have a lot of character.

Is there a big difference between an ST2 and ST3?
Going for a test drive on Sunday in an ST3 (I hope as its the preferred option) and was wondering if the seats are noticeably different.

The front seats are the same apart from they are leather and heated. The rear seats in the ST3 are bucket like so only for two people where the ST2 has a normal rear bench.
The ST3 has a 6 cd changer

From what I can remember when I was speccing my car, the main differences are full leather seats on ST3, partial on ST2 but ultimately the same seats but on the ST3 they're electrically adjusted. ST3 comes with keyless ignition and bi-xenon headlights.

I think folding wing mirrors are an option on the ST2.
