How many of you will be missing work due to the weather conditions?

Off work following a heart attack before Xmas. Have to say I prefer sitting watching it through the window than driving in it. Looking back over the years I've made it into work in some shocking conditions for very few thanks, I wouldn't do it again.

I usually cycle 8 miles to work on a cycle path, there's no way that would be treated so I took the bus, half way to work it was cancelled. So I walked the final 3-4 miles to work.

Problem is it looks likely I'll have to walk 6 miles home too :(

I could get to work but been so stressful recently I'm justifying staying at home to myself. Can't do any work either, left the laptop at work. All I can do is log into work emails. Meh. I guess I might have some draft policies on email if I'm "lucky".

Coventry has quite a bit of snow, the a45 doesn't seem to have been gritted. There was just me and a lonely truck going up it =/
Getting closer to southam it started getting clearer, virtually no snow on the roads...

made it in from southampton this morning (to winchester) bit slow going and plenty of snow idiots doing 1mph on motorway exit sliproads but otherwise fine

roads in southampton were not great - not sure if they got gritted or not

Even though the roads didnt look bad, it was a nightmare. Giggling as I walked passed.

What ever the common/standard tyre is on fairly recent BMWs are useless in this weather, they couldn't eat anywhere.
Then loads of drivers who were clueless. Once I push you just keep it crawling forward. What do they do put the foot down, spin the wheels totally and get stuck again.

Nice 4mile walk to the shop, almost time to make a blazing hot Mexican chili dish.

No trouble getting in through the light snow, getting home may be another matter entirely. I've walked the 7 miles before when the roads have gridlocked in deep snow, it took 2 hours, but then again it took the people driving 2 hours too to cover half the distance.

Yes the wonders of VPN mean I get to stay at home and work even longer hours than usual!

Although, to caveat that, I am doing a lot of looking out of the window at snow, and reading the forums....

No chance of me being snowed off work as I walk in, workplace is literally just a few minutes away. Trouble is my shift relief all live further afield so if they can't get in I'm stuck covering extra hours. (sometimes a lot of extra hours, what working time directive!?).

I don't mind working from home, but conference calls sure as hell aren't as productive as proper meetings.

A couple of inches of snow and the media go into meltdown. You think it was 2 foot of snow. If the Gulf stream ever shuts down again and we get real snow falls this country will cease to function for six months. Anything under 10 inches of snow should cause no problems to any competant driver.

true lol.. other countries get that every winter and have no problems :) its harder but hey stop looking for excuses..

i cycled in today but coming back on my 23mm slicks might be problematic.. ill see how the road look when i finish work.

WFH today. Well, I would be if web mail hadn't just fallen over.

Going to put ice spikes on the cyclocross bike and go for a few laps of Richmond Park. Woot.

Got an email round the company stating they expect everyone in snow or not.
