It's like if you have a compartment, then put a divider down the middle.

Do you have 2 half-compartments? Nope you have 2, smaller, compartments. Same with sandwiches.

So if you had half a pint it's still a pint just smaller?
 
Um....... I'm northern and I dont see anybody eating string :\

If its 2 slices of bread with stuff in the middle then cut in 2 .. Thats 1 sandwich .. 2 halfs

but if its one slice of bread folded in half with stuff in its 1 sandwich

Don't complain its too small when next time when your other half gave you a sandwich the size of a pea. ;)

Also if you take two slices of bread and cut them in half you could make two seperate sandwiches. The difference is when you take a full sandwich and cut it in half, then you get two half sandwiches.

No but its still a full drink. A pint is a measure of the contents. A sandwish, however, is not.

True, but then anything that was a whole but is now a half is just that, a half. If the two sandwishes were never a whole then they aren't a half.
 
Next OCUK meet, those who likes having smaller sandwiches / food ... etc will have TINY portions. :D

I am sorry, it's not tiny, it's 1 therefore it's complete ! :p

How on earth can they have never been a whole?

Thats the difference. Half a whole sandwich still serves its purpose fully as a sandwich.
 
When you goto the shops to buy a pre made sandwhich and you buy one of those triangular packs with two halfs/two sandwhiches whatever u want to call em the supermarket call them sandwhiches, hence more then one! Even though it was the product of one larger sandwhich that had been cut in half. Surely the supermarket wouldnt make a mistake in this food related area!!! :)
