*** How to obtain a bike license ***

The category A you can provisionally drive is there for when you take a full bike test which is Theory and Mod 1 + 2, the Category A with restrictions will have a limit of 33bhp or something similar, if you click on restrictions, what does it say?

lol, its good to know. anyway cbt is booked for the 4th of july.

the place im going quoted me £800 for the 4 day direct access course.

does that seem steep or about right?

Does that include test fees? If so seems about right for 4 days, I paid £500 for 2 days including my tests and 2 hour lessons before each one with bike hire.

Prior to a little while ago a car license got you a tricycle license too. Now they've changed it and you need an A license for trikes. However the rules don't apply retrospectively so anyone with a car license gets an A license with the 79(tri) restriction to make up for the restructure of vehicles.

Here's mine:
It's official!

I've been refreshing that website every few hours since I passed :p

Interesting info kreeee, I think it would be more beneficial to new learners to have the mod 2 fee reduced! £75 is pretty steep considering they don't even provide a test bike!

Correct, this gets added when you get a car licence.
Incorrect!!
The only people who will have that are people who passed their car test before Jan 2013.

It's grandfather rights from when you could ride a trike on a B1 licence, the law changed Jan 2013 and you now need a full bike licence to ride a trike.

Those who passed their car test before that date retain the right to ride a trike, those who passed after can't ride one.

MOD 1 passed yesterday with not a rider fault in sight :D
Considering how utterly crap my u turns were up until I spent an hour or so just hammering one after another last week I was a little surprised!

Well done mate :) when's your MOD2 booked for?

A week tomorrow, just a nice leisurely ride in the sunshine  I hope :D

Congrats, what bikes are you lot getting when you pass?

I'm looking at getting a Kawasaki ER6F at the minute, been training on the naked version and it seems to suit me quite nicely so I thought the fared version would be a sensible choice considering I'll be using it to commute from Wolves to Kiddie every day and the wind going down the A449 can get a bit tiring because it's so open round there and I plan on munching some motorway miles.

The problem is it seems rude to get one and not have it in green, but everyone else seems to think the same so you pay a bit more for it.

I like the white ones, and black look good, green is OK but that's the most common colour

I've been riding a white one, really nice apart from the cute purple butterfly tank protector the woman my instructor bought it off put on :o

I've found one for sale at Cradley Kawasaki for £3.2k looks nice and clean, not sold on the blue colour but that might change when I see it in the flesh.
