*** How to obtain a bike license ***

A lot of fun, i enjoyed it much more than the CBT. I'm surprised at how easy bigger bikes are to ride. Thought I would be fighting the balance but it wasn't like that at all.

Spent about an hour or so on a Suzuki ER500 then spent the rest of the day on a Honda CBF600.

I have my second day training and Mod 1 pencilled in for the 20th and 21st of December! Wish me luck guys.

It's my birthday before then so getting some shoes and gloves for a present :)

I was the same, then I rode my bike into the test paddock and thought to myself stop being a fanny lol, it's definitely not something to get nervous about. :)

I should be fine, the instructor said to take as much time as you need - so that's what I'll do. If I do fail, i wont beat myself up too much. But the sooner I pass the sooner I can meet up whenever you guys do OC rides :)

Where do you guys buy your stuff? I was looking at sportsbikeshop but wondering if any cheaper/better alternatives. Need to get some boots/shoes before my test and figured I would get some gloves too. Going to get a helmet and jacket from my cousin until I can fund my own

Most of my stuff comes from Sports bike shop, prices are all pretty much the same unless you start buying from companies on the continent.
SBS have good CS and a great returns policy.

I buy a lot of my stuff from my local shop - most places will do 5-10% off if you ask. And a lot of kit you have to try on the make sure it fits well. With the discount it's cheaper than buying online for a lot of stuff.

I have a large Fowlers near me, I could go in there and try some stuff on I suppose. Looking at some Alpine star shoes which just look like normal high top trainers and some winter furygan gloves.

Definitely worth going and trying stuff on if you can, my closest big place is in the middle of Brum so it's easier for me to just order from SBS and use their free returns for bits that don't fit.

Can't beat trying things on in the shops till you find the correct brand and fit, then find the same kit online and buy online as its usually cheaper

Yeah a lot of stuff is slightly cheaper online, but not that much. SBS and getgeared sell at the normal price for a lot of stuff, and with 10% off buying locally it worked out cheaper for me to buy a lot of my gear locally.

Luckily I have a chain of bike shops close by which have excellent clothing departments.

Right, so I'm now the owner of boots and gloves. Taking baby steps getting all my stuff. Hopefully getting a hardly used alpinestars textile jacket from my cousin assuming it fits me. Saw I very nice Shoei Marquez black ant helmet on sale for £299 but I think my girlfriend would kill me if I bought that before Xmas!

I swear as the days count down I'm getting progressively more nervous and it's not long until my last training day is here before the Mod1 test. The sooner I get this out of the way the sooner I can do Mod 2 which I feel much more confident about.

As above, great deal! They also have the XR1100 for £270 (or £250 for plain colour) with the jeans which is a pretty awesome deal.

Shoei NXR at £300 upwards with free jeans is a great deal too, fantastic helmet, so light it doesn't feel like you're wearing one. I'll be buying one as my touring/summer use helment at some point.

Yup. I'd get one of those or the XR1100 if mine was older. My XR1100 is still good though, I'm just bored of it being plain glossy black. Also I want a Schuberth next anyway :p
