*** How to obtain a bike license ***

Question, I have full car EU licence, and I am thinking about a bike, I am however scared to go for a big bike and I'd like to learn first on 125, is CBT the only thing I need to ride in UK legally ?
 
A 125 will feel fast for the first few days/weeks, but after that you'll be on the throttle stop everywhere, wishing for more power.

Fast, they are not. :D
 
To be fair I was relatively happy on my 125 until I had my first day of DAS training, then I hated it and never wanted to set backside on it again :D
 
I didn't own a 125 so my experience was different. I did my CBT which reassured me that a 125 would be fine for a few months to get experience. But I was poor and had the riding bug so because I wanted to get out on a bike I decided to do a day DAS training.... Yeah, after about 2 minutes I wouldn't even dare entertain the thought of a 125 again.
 
Well I just need something to go around town, avoid this cramped tube, get to work a bit faster. I have never sat on motorbike nor I am a big speed demon. But thanks for the warning, the 125 bikes keep their price so if I don't like it I can flog it and save up for the big licence. That can also be a bit of a problem, cos I might need to do my bike licence at home and that takes 3 weeks so i can keep my eu licence and not have two. one for bike one for car...
 
I did 6 months and 7000 miles on a 125, and they're actually dangerous at times. If you want to get past the old codger doing 40mph in a 60 NSL limit you have to plan ahead and have a gap about half a mile long to overtake. A 400cc+ bike is past in a couple of seconds, vs the 5-10 it takes for a 125 to overtake.
 
CBT done and dusted, that was a lot of fun. Now got to find a 125 that someone of my height (6"5) won't be too cramped on. How do the YBR and CBF fair, size-wise?

I'm totally biased, but check out the WR125X. My first 125, it's a nice tall bike and a fantastic commuter. SM styled, so nice and thin for filtering etc.
 
I'm only 5'10 and my old ybr 125 did me fine for the 10 months it took to get my mod1 and mod 2 done, but training on the ER6N made me just want a big bike even more.

I missed out on a Varadero, which was my first choice. Also, the ybr didn't like steep hills past 50mph either!

Whichever 125 you go for, you'll lose very little on the value of it, I part exchanged mine for the same money I bought it for.
 
An RS125 with a bit of work is immense fun and spanks any 4 stroke 125 clean out the water. Granted they're not CBT legal but they are fun and shift much faster than you would think.

LOL RS125 is great fun with full licence, RS250 is where the proper fun begins. Sadly they are a lot of £££.

I'm only 5'10
I'm 5ft 6 (a midget) and at the minimum of riding motorcycles comfortably.

I'll be doing my CBT and looking for a 125 soon, 6"3 here so i'm in the same boat. I like the look of the CBF125.
 
Yep, the Varadero is a great 125, proper bike sized with proper sized tyres too. This was my old one, did 7k miles on it, it would happily sit at 70mph on the motorway.

 
I think what people miss out on owning a 125 is the maintenance side. They are so easy to take apart and put together again. A good way to learn to do your own stuff.
