Can you point me in the direction of the constitution of the UK?

It's not in any single document and is made up of Acts of Parliament, Court Judgements and other documents, but here's a starter:

The Parliament Acts (1911–49) that regulate the respective powers of the two Houses of Parliament.

The Representation of the People Acts (1918) (as amended) providing for universal voting and other matters of political representation.

The European Communities Act (1972) making the UK a legal partner in the European Union.

The Scottish, Welsh and Northern Ireland devolution Acts of 1998 (as amended) creating an executive and legislature for each of those three nations in the UK.

The Human Rights Act (1998) establishing a bill of rights and freedoms actionable by individuals through the courts.

You could try, Magna Carta, the Bill of Rights, Reform Acts and Parliament Acts as a starter but as you plainly know we have no explicit constitution which is why it has been flexible over the years.

Oh and I used the word constitutional not constitution, not quite the same.

if we got rid of them, we'd still need a president or a chancellor or someone to have their face on notes and be on first name terms with the head of state of (insert name of country here) and have a big fancy house to impress the foreign diplomats.

they still serve a useful purpose in this day and age, and i'd say keep them.

Get rid. A relic of a by-gone era. Imagine the money that could be raised from having BP as a tourist attraction.

Having said that I'm so anti-royal that I have a party pooper ready to let off when Liz Saxe-Coburg Gotha departs.

No we wouldn't Adolph. We have the EU to do that!

The poll options would normally be listed 'keep' followed by 'abolish', so I can see some bias here as the OP has switched the 2 options around!

It smacks of that recent story where Bristol county council provided instructions on how to vote with the pen pictured over the 'remain' option :p

At this point I'd rather the Queen ran the country than the people we currently have, I feel like she cares more about the country and it's people than our elected politicians.

Pleased that common sense, at least for a moment in GD is coming to the fore. Now we just need to vote remain and I will be happy.

The fact that The Sun has come out saying you should vote Leave is enough for me. Some may find it strange but I'm not a fan or Mr Murdoch. I'm sure he ones said that he hates Europe as no one listens to him in Brussels but the government here always do as he wants.

Keep her Maj & co.

We get the money back several times over from tourism plus it's part of our national identity.
