** HP Compaq Mini 311c-1010SA Intel Atom N270 ION 11.6" Netbook @ £314.99 inc VAT **

hmmm which to get, this or the sammy n510??

Whats the general consensus?? im liking the idea of being able to easily upgrade the ram to 3gb on the hp due to 1gb being on board, where as the n510 is more expensive and a single slot so to get 4gb would add additional costs on top of it.

And add to that a far better matte screen which means it can be used almost anywhere without having to keep moving to avoid annoying reflections.

I disagree, I much prefer the glossy screen of the 311c. It's perfectly usable everywhere I've had it so far and goes very bright if need be.

Even if it is slightly worse in direct sunlight in most situations it just looks nicer.

I do like glossy screens but then I like matte screens just as much, both versions have pros and cons.

Glossy - Amazing colours and vibrancy, but reflections do get annoying, I have yet to see a glossy screen that doesn't suffer to some degree from this.

Matte - No reflections, but colours are no where near as rich and the screen can look dull comparred to a glossy alternative.

Basically there needs to be a development in panel technology so that we can have the best of both worlds, a non reflective screen that is vibrant and rich in colour.

Hmm the N510 continues teh straight cut palm rest edge trend of the Nc10 -my only niggle because I like to rest my palms on the edges and the straightness kind of cut into my palms after prolonged usage :p

Obviously the N510 is bigger so may well not suffer the same issue....Hmmmm.....costs wise it falls into the similar band tbh but with N wifi and a better (?) cpu.

Will have to do more research as I am buying as early as Friday for Saturday delivery as I have several days off work next week that I'd like to have a play with the netbook with and on Thursday car MOT so can sit in the dealer's churning away on their freee wifi and food feeling important and stuff :p

Omg I have gone and done it :O

The N510 didn't tickle my fancy really after thinking about it, N cards are £15 or less on ebay so will grab one of those later but for now.....

I'll be putting Windows 7 Professional on Friday night btw and installing STEAM to get some indie games I have no desire to play on the PC but would be great on the move!:)

Yes the 5300 is the one I put inside the NC10 and worked flawlessly.

Should improve battery power too, based on Centrino technology it uses less power than a G card so go for it :D

Hi,

Has anyone ordered this direct from HP? I placed an order on Tuesday when it said shipping immediately and the order still hasn't been accepted, and now its switched to saying shipping within two weeks....

Am thinking of cancelling my order and getting it from here as I really want it in time for the weekend!

Thanks,

Emma
