** HP Compaq Mini 311c-1010SA Intel Atom N270 ION 11.6" Netbook @ £314.99 inc VAT **

I can hold off the remote desktop hosting on it until a patched termserv dll is out :p

Those that have this, what case (if any) does this come with?

Just wanting to know if I should buy a slip case on the way home tonight or not!

I'm still a bit undecided wither I should buy one of these to replace my folks ageing laptop. The last thing I want is to buy this and find that the performance is worse than what they already have; I'm torn between 311c and standard laptop even though they only use it for web browsing/email and the odd bit of Word and Excel work.

How does the performance of the Intel Atom N270 compare to an Intel Pentium M 1.4Ghz cpu? The screen, keyboard/trackpad all look good as does the overall build quality my main concern is the cpu.

Coped fine for me and I used Photoshop + video watching on that not just surfing.

It's more to do with RAM and HDD utlisation which these netbooks do well.

Still waiting on mine to arrive, it's on delivery van :)

Whats the best way to go about this Windows 7 install? I have it all ready on my USB stick to go. Just do a complete wipe of hard drive or is it wise to backup/image the drive beforehand so I can restore to original if needed?

Did you pick up an ariel for it?

Aerial!

You don't need the 3rd aerial, it my improve range but within normal usage 300MBps is easily reached.

Just copy the ISO image of Win7 over to the HDD, mount with Virtual Clone Drive and begin installing. It will put old Windows in windows.old which you can then delete (and defrag) and thus have a completely clean install.

I have a USB DVDRW so will just use that :p

I was thinking of grabbing the 6" one from OxTec and routing it around the card itself? I don't want to be taking the screen apart to fit one though.

I was mainly thinking of needing to 'restore the netbook to its original state' should anything unfortunate happen :p

You could just create a drive image and store it on an external HDD. CloneZilla will do that perfectly for you!

Well Mine is unboxed and RAM upgraded, will post pics shortly but I will say this, the build quality is superb compared to the NC10 !

I also picked up a pouch but it is a bit too big so will change it for a better one tomorrow morning so I can carry the power cable too. It's one of those messenger bags but looks nice and funky and costs £25 =]
