You have to run the performance tests. Once complete Aero will automatically enable.

There is not one. You can make a recovery DVD if you like, or clone the hdd, but it does not have a recovery partition.
 
I have tried MPC HC and CoreAVC and they do not recognise my ION GPU!!

I have installed Nvidia 195.39 and the DirectX Runtimes.

So frustrating, bought this to play 720p files.

Can someone check there configs please?
 
Working fine here dude using the official ION drivers, just manually installed them and chose ION instead of ION LE during driver update.

Also I got abag today, it's a Belkin Messenger bag I got from an electronics highstreet retailer for £25 - I bought the Macbook Air pouch by Belkin last night but it was 1 inch too long but looked the business indeed and was £5 cheaper but oh well, I like this messenger bag as I can have the cables and portable DVD drive if need be as well as many other things :D

My only wish really is that there shoudl be an OSD for when you change volume etc as it's hard to etll what volume level you're at!

Speaking of volume the speakers are damn good I have to say, Altec Lansing deserve a pat on the back, so much so I've delegated TV card duties to the netbook now and porch the netbook on the desk corner to watch freeview with :p

mrk please can you go into MPC HC, press o then go to output and put a screenshot up of that?

Think ive got mine owrking by installing the coreavc codec within mpc hc. my 720p mkv plays with 40% ish cpu usage now as opposed to 98%.

ps. I am utterly shocked to see how well this little pc runs under win7 with the standard 1gb. awesome just awesome.

I installed DiVX + 7 Tech Preview for mkv thumbs in win7, I also installed AC3 filter, vobsubfilter for sub splitting for anime (!!!) and also QTlite for browser embedded quicktime stuff. However in MPC I use its internal filters!

bob055 aye, Win7 Pro x86, 3GB ram and wireless N as soon as it arrives.
 
I reinstalled as I made a mess of activation and stuff first time round but what I did was:

> install win7
> install nvidia drivers for ion manually via device manager, I chose the 2nd ION option not ION LE - link to drivers
> install nvidia chipset drivers (ones from HP themselves)
> configure and install software/codecs etc as you see fit.
 
Wonder how the keyboard on this compares to the Sammy N510? I'm considering one in the next month or so but can't seem to find anyone comparing the two.... :(

From what I can see the Sammy has excellent build quality, a nice functional look, great battery life and great keyboard. The HP on on the other hand doesn't best it in any of those counts (imo so far) but it does enable you to have 3gig limit and that's a major plus in a netbook!!

Anyone else know any more?
 
Ram problem

Hi,

I finally got my Mini 311 and I've also got 2gb 1066Mhz RAM from Crucial.com

My problem is, when I put the RAM in, it doesnt show under system properties in XP? Do you khow why? I think I've read about someone else having a similar problem on another forum but can't remember where for the life of me!

I'm going to install Windows 7 and then I'll try putting the RAM in again, but has anyone else had this problem?
