Anyway the 186 drivers gave this score:

processor : 2.2
memory: 4.4
graphics (aero): 4.4
graphics (gaming): 5.3
primary hard disk: 5.5

Much better :)
 
that means you have 256mb for the vid card mrk and i only have 128mb.

Cant see that making a difference though.

Did you defo put the vid drivers on before the chipset drivers?

Its a really frustrating problem i am having, aero isnt working and i had to force it to work.

ps. what version of win 7 are you using?

Quite a lot faster, it's dual core and based on c2d.

Strange problem Spit :/ I'd personally wipe the drivers clean using driver sweeper then install the display driver (modded 186 version linked above) and then install the nforce platform chipset driver from HP's website.

The ALPS touchpad driver adds some nice features too btw, like scrolling in multiple directions and middle mousebutton click by pressing both buttons at the same time as well as gesture style scrolling and browser back/forward which I don't use as it's just quicker to alt + left/right.

Win7 makes sense on netbooks, the neat WINKEY shortcuts make navigating the OS much simpler.

I'm also gaming via NES, SNES and GENESIS at the mo,not yet installed STEAM for indy games :p

Oh yeah, it may default to Basic theme to start with, just right click the desktop and choose personalise then choose an aero theme.
 
Thanks guys. I just installed mpc hc again and it still ghosts out the bits i need. Still no windows experience index rating either.

This is a total format with just ion driver on and the chipset drivers from the HP website.
