** HP Compaq Mini 311c-1010SA Intel Atom N270 ION 11.6" Netbook @ £314.99 inc VAT **

Still very tempted by the UK version. Only thing putting me off is if it will max out at 1gig!!

Wish OcUK would get some info on this for us. I keep asking!

Still not had anything concrete yet. I too have had different answers from people at HP. Seems to me they're just taking a guess but until they're available no one can confirm.

No, it isn't. The 230 is 4w which is why I said 2.5w/4w.

As this video shows it's around 20-25% CPU usage running 1080p and here is another one both playing back 1080p smoothly and encoding 1080p video at the same time:

I'll dig out the benchmarks I was looking at, put this shows a BluRay playback on the dual core Atom getting each core upto 36% utilisation, so on a single core Atom surely that'd be near 72% and hence leaving hardly any power left for multitasking

Like in say in my previous post, those people had confirmation to the 1gb ram direct from HP aswell. Still the information given was incorrect.

Of course the us model and the uk versions differ in model numbers, it still doesn't mean anything to the ram issue.

Can you honestly say even with the information that HP have given out that the uk mini will be maxed out at 1gb?

Like i say in my original post the only way anyone will know is when they get their hands on the mini 311c and find out.

Yea, who's going to be first to buy one and open it up!!

Can't understand why they would make a 1gig version for the UK and a 3gig version for the USA! Can't be right surely?

It only shows 19% in that link? :)

I've already bought one... Just need OcUK to get them!

thats a n230 mate its not dual core ( which irc is n330??) same as whats in my acer revo 3600 bolted to the back of my samsung 40" tv, it has no problem playing HD 1080p even using media player classic with k-lite drivers.

No, that is the 330 (there is a cheaper version with the 230 as well).

But it also says later on that it uses 10-14% without encryption, or 20-28% on an n270 assuming the dual core scales perfectly, which it won't.

So if I order one of these from the US, does anyone know what sort of support (if any at all) I'll get from HP should something go wrong whilst it's in the UK???

I do like the HP but putting 1GB in is a bit silly considering most people will be slapping Win7 or Vista on it. Samsung N510 says 1GB ram also, I wonder if that's soldered too. I'm prefering the Samsung over the HP but the price gap is quite large.

the only problem I've only had with my current netbook is HD playback which the Ion deals with. I got my eye on these, it will be interesting to read a few reviews (ocuk owner review):)

Oh yeah, To the person that ordered one let us know if your planning on putting Windows 7 on it :D

Well I was going to get one of these from the States but it won't be ready in time to come back with my parents. I'm now tempted by an Acer Aspire Timeline 3810TG :).

Here's a bit from the Compaq/HP 311 maintenance guide:

Can't decide whether to wait for these with OcUK (said sometime this month on webnote) or go for the ASUS EEE PC 1005HA as the battery on the Asus is suppose to be fantastic in the right conditions.....
