HP LP2475w, IPS 24" Official Thread! (Now Available from OcUK)

Hi Guys,

Firmware is GIG045. I think you guys are missing the point, the LED on/off option works fine......but when you set the option to LED off and then switch the monitor off and then back on again, it seems to forget that the LED setting is off and switches the LED to the on state. :D

Clear as mud

Mine arrived yesterday, it was so cold outside that once I opened it up, some condensation formed on the screen and I had to wait until it all dried up, maybe it was the same inside too, I don't know!

I noticed it is the "January 2009" version. F/W Version: GIG 045

Initially and as all reports say, it's very bright on default settings. Very red as well. After trying some of the "calibrated" settings, it looks terrific, but still maybe a bit too red.

I noticed some faint red glow around white text and lines.

All in all, I don't know if it's any better than the NEC24" "Gaming" monitor, but I hope these are on par! :)

Nope, I understood fine, and as I said, the LED stays off, even after switching the monitor off then on again - it hasn't lit up since I turned it off months ago! This is on firmware 032, so obviously HP has introduced a small bug in your firmware revision - contact them and find out if they can fix it, and if a new firmware can be user applied.

Sorry philjohn, I didn't mean to insult your intelligence. Strange little bug it must be then. Saltank, could you confirm that you have this bug also, since you have the same firmware as I? I don't think I will bother contacting HP about it - it doesn't bother me to have the LED on, but Joey - you might want to consider what philjohn has suggested if it is annoying you!

I've arranged a refund and I'll be going for the NEC as soon as this has been completed.

The HP LP2475w has issues with displaying white images, lines and text, whereby it would show a red and sometimes green tint and glow and imbalance in the colors, no amount of calibration would sort this out, unfortunately! Too bad because the IQ is stunning, yet not perfect.

I picked up this monitor a week ago, and so far I have been happy with it. I dont do any colour critical work, I mainly use it for gaming.

To get the most out of it I decided to get a calibrator. I got the Spyder2 second hand from ebay, for £30. It was so cheap I bought it without reading up on it, in fear of someone else snapping it up. However, I've now found it does not work well with my wide gamut screens.

Has anyone had any experience using the Spyder2 with this screen?
Like I said colour does not have to be perfect, would this calibrator be ok for a casual user like me who only really plays games and does office work.

Thanks in advance.

Try using the profiles on page 9 or on TFTCentral. Check as well that there isn't a cheap upgrade/trade in path to the Spyder3.

Thanks for the advice, I should get the spyder2 tomorrow, I have never used the software before. I'm guessing you can make manual ajustments to the profile.

Page 9? Is that a page in the calibration program?

lol, I suppose all you really need is the software, and calibration details from someone. Might save some money.

Page 9 of this thread, I posted the ICC profile that I've been using (along with custom RGB, brightness and contrast settings).

Hi. Is there any form of audio out on this monitor. I want my PS3 to output the audio to the monitor via HDMI and then to put a lead to my speakers. I would go straight from PS3 to speakers but I lost my cable

No you wouldnt, this leaves the dell standing, you can read reviews here if you want
I got mine all set up, no problems, I simply adjusted the colours as they did in this review (I know you're meant to calibrate yourself but it wont be far off) and it looks simply stunning (which is more than can be said for my blurry photography, lol)
