HP LP2475w, IPS 24" Official Thread! (Now Available from OcUK)

o.k got the monitor!

No dead pixels etc

uniformity seems ok, but not sure about the backlight.

What is the best way of taking a pic of the screen, so i can upload it to show the backlight?

OCUK Value 24" PMVA
Acer 24" Gaming
Hyundai 24" PVA
Hazro 24" Silver (two of them)
BenQ FP241W
Dell 2408

Lastly decided on the HP

Indeed, you're had a fair few; no doubt about it the HP LP2475w is a nice screen, and would have liked to have kept the one I had, but HP failed to sort out the firmware bug for me, and I was not going to pay £400 for a monitor with that, so now have the NEC 24WMGX3 which I am certainly pleased with...

Not sure about this left to right green/red tint issue.

It think i might have it on mine but its very very subtle, Has anybody got this on theirs and does it get better over time?

I'm just concerned if I swap the panel, the other one may have other defects.

Also not keen on getting the nec 2470, as this is nearly double the price and whats to say that won't have faults?

I'll be honest stuff like this, not just on this panel take the fun out of buying something new.

This is a pic of my screen, can anybody see the tint?

What the best way to take a pic to show this, i took it low light with no flash. Is that right?

I can see it slightly, but I wouldn't worry, it doesn't look as bad as it did on mine and that's sorted itself out.

Thanks for the advice philjohn.

Ok have read through the whole thread and seems like the tint issue may disapeer and may not??

Not sure what to do as otherwise the panel is fine.

ok just spoke to hp, after being transferred to different departments.

I need to email proof of purchase and they will give me a ref to give to the hp store, that i bought it from.

Just wondering if its worth the risk of swapping for another. Also it has the led light firmware bug as well.

On the day I got my LP2475w and discovered the firmware bug (045) (bezel power led not saving), when I rang up HP, they declared DOA (it can be delared DOA up to 28 days after purchase I believe), so when they said they were going to replace it, I told them that it HAD to be with a brand new one, and not some refurbished one, which they readily agreed to, and the replacement one I got was indeed new, albeit witht the same firmware bug...

Thats exactly what i can see happening with my problem.

What did you do in the end mate?

Having spoke to HP Customer Services, and when they couldn't guarantee that the next replacement monitor wouldn't have the same firmware with the bug in it (045, even though there was at least one later released firmware, 052), I simply asked for a full refund, and went and bought an NEC 24WMGX3 from OcUK, which has no problems, and I'll more than pleased with..

Hi,

I'd like to hear from anyone who got an LP2475W replaced due to the colour-temperature gradient and got a unit that was free from the problem. I'm not so interested in hearing from those who apparently had a perfect unit in the first place because, for all I can tell, they may have an affected unit and just not be able to detect it (e.g. I showed mine to my flatmate who couldn't see anything wrong with it).

I sent one back last September but opted not to get it replaced since it sounded like a pretty much universal problem, but I've since heard that some people don't seem to have the problem and I'm desperate to replace my CRT and really need to make a decision! I'm tempted to order three from ****** and hope that at least one of them doesn't exhibit the problem to a noticeable extent, and send back the least good two unit under the usual distance-selling regs.

Additionally, any thoughts on the image quality of the Hazro 24" and 26" would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

I puchased a 2475w direct from hp late last week.

It has got the tint problem, so looks like they haven't sorted it.

There's nothing to sort - it's the panel, and according to LG.Display is expected behaviour which sorts itself out once the screen is properly burnt in (as mine has).

I've seen people saying that even after extensive use, it still exhibits these problems.

How many hours did you clock up on teh backlight when the problem started to disappear?

What revision did you get philjohn, has it got the led firmware bug?

after 100 hours I couldn't notice it anymore, as far as firmware it's GIG 032 and no, that doesn't have the LED bug.

Well, I'd happily wait a thousand hours for one of these to lose it's L-R gradient, as long as I knew it wasn't going to last I woulnd't mind it at all. But it seems a bit risky... 100 hours is too long to send it back to the retailer under DSR if it doesn't start to fade!

But not too long to reject it under SOGA as of unsatisfactory quality/not fit for purpose.
