Ok at work I have a HP L1910 19" TFT which is several yrs old. I tried the service menu command and whoah, many advanced options are available to control sleep timer system, front panel power light, backlight hours count, system management etc. Seems this is built into all HP screens maybe ?

That's interesting, shows how much thought goes into HP monitors, even way back.

The switching the LED power indicator off feature is so clever, and yet simple at the same time - makes you wonder why every other manufacturer doesn't employ it (hmmm...actually, it's probably covered by a "patent" (in inverted commas because stuff like that doesn't deserve to be patented)).

Thanks for the review - most helpful. Regrettably I need a VGA port to run my older computer alongside my Mac, which I find a very strange omission.

Back to the drawing board. The NEC LCD2470WNX is my current flavour of the week.

There's DVI-I and a converter cable included (I think, if not they're cheap) so it's not a problem if you need to plug in VGA only machines.

I agree about the price though, £40-50 needs to come off that to be competitive.

Hi there

Unfortunately I know exactly which companies your referring too, companies that operate no doubt from a cupboard as they are just using an EDI feed and adding 2% margin in the hope of getting a sale.

OcUK is not willing to sell products at margins that low on a permanent basis for the sole reason we intend on sticking around. We see such companies sprouting up and dissapearing all the time.

We shall offer the product on special This Week Only tomorrow which with forums free shipping will be similar if not the same as those around £420ish plus shipping......

£420 on TWO ? man again with the these arrivals and offers coming just moments after I order from another source! I would have got mine from ocuk if I had known that would be the price this week :/

Sorry, I got one notably cheaper from a company who are an established business supplier and very well regarded, they're also an official HP reseller. Even another very well known online retailer has them at £419 according to google shopping.

Either way, their available from reputable sources for around the £420 mark or cheaper from less well known places. Even our IT department who're particularly picky about who they buy from managed to get me one for less.

Great you've got them in but it's 10% over the odds.

Well, after Badass's review, coupled with other users comments about it on forums I've gone and ordered one :)

Fed up of waiting for a decent 24" replacement for my trusty NEC GX2. Gotta bite the bullet at some stage, and this HP ticks all the right boxes for me. Can't wait for it to arrive. Seems its only very slightly slower in gaming but amazing colour after calibration with great input options, etc. A great all-rounder.

I saw that new NEC 24" in the other thread but its too expensive for what seems more of a home multimedia solution. I Prefer the the business-like qualities of the HP, plus that lovely H-IPS panel.

Don't worry, you can plus VGA sources in, HP have just chosen a new way of doing it.

The DVI interface has 2 modes (not counting DVI-A as nobody uses that), digital (DVI-D), and integrated (DVI-I).

DVI-I is basically 2 ports in 1, a DVI port and also pins for carrying a VGA signal. Included in the box is a special VGA->DVI-I cable which on one end would plus into your old gear, and on the other to the DVI input on the monitor.

This is also why many graphics cards come with DVI->VGA adaptors - they send both analogue and digital signals through the DVI port.

Hi there

Yep seen that one too, unfortunately them and ourselves are buying from the same companies. Our buy price is within £5 of each other and even if they are paying the best possible price they are making £12 a monitor.

To be frank OcUK is not willing to make margins that low, if we can somehow get some addition price support then we will match but at the moment NEC are not giving any preferential support on it as its a top line model.

Our This Week Only price will be very close but on a permament basis were not in business to make such small percentages on a product.

Ahh - OK. Many thanks for the updates everyone. Should have looked deeper into that.

I shall now reconsider and wait for some user feedback.

Mind you I seem to have been hanging round the forums for months doing that:-)

Understandable I guess, to be honest if I get one for home I may well shell out the extra and buy it from OCUK for the good service.
