HP LP2475w, IPS 24" Official Thread! (Now Available from OcUK)

Initial results are no dead pixels, backlight is pretty uniform, brightness after factory reset is not as bright as the Hazro HZ24Wi also after a reset.

Stock colours are more vibrant than the Hazro (to be expected) and luminance at stock brightness of 90 is more comfortable as well.

Setup and Calibration about to start as soon as I box up the Hazro :)

Looking forward to your amazing pictures ;)

two new images red look has gone when turnt light on.

Ah that makes sense :p

How are you finding colours in apps ? I find in order to proof colours to what people will see I need to CTRL+Y in photoshop

Well, don't have a hw calibrator yet so have just done adjustments using HP Display Assistant. Got it looking ok, not accurate, but less saturated in the greens and reds.

hello, reasonably tempted by this, but don't do photowork, I game, code and watch tv/movies - I read wide gamut isn't best for this but is it really any issue?

I'm still undecided on how I feel when suing it in non colour managed apps, still got some playing around with to go I think.

Anyway here's my pics:

Out of the box factory reset settings on both:

Edit*

Yup, found out why they say wide gamut is not god for web surfing and general multimedia usage, you get washed out colours on images that don't specify a colour profile whilst those that do appear overly saturated unless it's a wide gamut profile such as adobeRGB.

Now since 99.9% of web content is sRGB and where not specified defaults to sRGB this makes for one heck of an eyesore surfing the net.

Key example is this forum blue colour, the blue looks faded and washed out even after enabling colour management in Firefox 3.

Vista itself however seems to display colours just fine regardless of profile specified or lack of profile in any image.

Hmmm I'm at 2 worlds about this now!

I'm going to keep the Hazro I think, the downsides of having no stand adjustment and also the heat that builds up and slightly worse black point I will put up with as long as my colours are accurate across the board which they are on the Hazro!

mrk,

excellent set of pictures in post 195 :)

In the first picture the Hazro banding issue is clearly apparent in the upper right of the image, but in both Hazro shots it shows far greater depth, picture 2 in particular.

The HP just looks wrong, my colour definition is not that great but to me the red settings look out of wack. I'm wondering if this is a saturation issue or if the default settings are causing compression.

In any case I'd love to see an exact repeat of these images after calibration. Pretty please :)

Same results after cal since one is @ 92% gamut the results are both calibrated but the same difference at their calibrated values :)

BTW that's not banding you see, that's the blinds behind me being reflected off the glossy polariser :p

On sRGB content the Hazro wins hands down.
On wide gamut content and apps the HP has more definition most notably shadow detail and colour depth but only on those images and in colour managed apps like Bridge/Photoshop etc.

It's hard to photograph them though because it's going through several conversions and compression from my camera to your screen and does not resemble what you see in person. The above pics give you an idea of the differences though.

so are u sending this HP monitor back ?
can sorta see what you mean about the colours on this forum, look more like pastel colours than on the hazro ?
are games colour managed ? ive only played a little but seemed ok, although my 1st thoughts were it didnt look as stunning as the hazro.....was hoping it was just settings needing played with though, the HP display assistant calibration thing helped make it look better
I dot have theh azro side by sie with it tho so hard to tell
