HP Microserver+XPEnology

Do you mean using DS download station? I use the android apps to do everything. I use no-ip(free) for my Nas addy.

My family upload photos to the nas via file station when they are out and about or the mem card is full.

I don't use download station. You use No-IP for a static IP, and then you can access via the DS file & DS Download apps etc?

Yeh you got it. Get the app here http://www.raving.at/ to change your mac addy.

Once 4.3 is installed it will tell you about some updates, click download DON'T click update
go to scheduled tasks and create a custom task and copy+paste this in to the box.

sed 's/flashupdateDeb/flashupdateDeb1/' /[email protected]> /[email protected]
mv /[email protected] /[email protected]

Then go back and click update :)

I would make sure you have a backup mate.

Thanks for that, got update 4 running now.

I've upgraded and all went fine. Now I'm changing the grub.conf so I will get the real mac addy.

Edit=All done and is running great(so far) :)

The new GUI is great and WOL worked out the box, it configured my router(SH2) in seconds.
Transfer speed is the same as 4.3. Any thing you want me to try just ask.

I've been running a four disk setup with Xpenology on my Microserver with all being fine and dandy. So, of course, I've got to see if I can break things... I've installed EXSi onto a USB drive and it's running well so I'm was wondering what would happen if I installed Xpenology as a VM. Would it pick up the four disk set up and just carry on? Or would a bit more configuration be required through EXSi?

I'm trying to set my N54L up on a mac.
So far, I have found unetbootin which has allowed my to put the XPEnology_DS3612xs file onto a usb stick.
So far, so good. In Mac OSX it doesn't see any of the files at all.
I would like to make the mac address mod to show the real mac address, but need some way of viewing the files. Anyone any experience. I know there are pc versions, but I'm thinking I might have to do this again, so would like to be able to do it on the mac.

Well, my XPenology is playing up, reporting a hard drive error, so I cant build my array. I know its disk 2 but its figuring out which one this is in ESXi so I can replace it :(

No you need to SHH as you will need root rights.

Thanks for the further clarification. Actually, my existing server is a netgear readynas pro4 and some kind soul made an add-on which activated root user. I was then able to ftp into it using the ip address followed by /root. That gave me full access to all the files.

Is there any similar procedure that would work on the 54L? I've a bit green about SSH, so rather than re-invent the wheel it would be good to do the same.

So hibernation doesn't work on V5 :( even if I take out the USB stick.

I've just updated to DSM 5 update 1 and I was having trouble with HDD hibernation before but I think I may have sorted it out now.

I turned on the HDD hibernation debugging tool via Putty and then forced the drive into hibernation, left it for 10-20 minutes and checked the logs and it turned out Couch Potato was polling the HDD every minute or so for some reason.

So I've since changed some settings in there and from what I can see from the logs (remotely doing this at work so can't actually tell if it's hibernating or not) the hibernation looks like it's working.

Have you tried using the "syno_hibernate_debug_tool" command from a Putty window?

What version are people currently running on their boxes?? I am currently using DSM 4.3-3810 Update 3 but thinking of updating it when I saw someone here had been hacked.

I can see that DMS 4.3-3827 is currently available to download.

Do I just need to create this scheduled task below and then run the update after using download only option?

sed 's/flashupdateDeb/flashupdateDeb1/' /[email protected]> /[email protected]
mv /[email protected] /[email protected]
